gunsmith cleanup
Snagged an old model Savage/Stevens? .22 long rifle/.410 over/under combo gun.
The lettering on the bore states .410 bore 2 then I can't make it out anymore.
Did these older guns shoot length specific .410 shells?
If so anybody know what they were?
I thought this would be perfect for ex- first loves garden rabbit/ snake gun.

Yes it is.
Re: gunsmith cleanup
No 3" shells in that one just 2 1/2. They are a real handy gun I bought one for my father in law in 1972 and my daughter has it now. It's killed a ton of small game and varmits.

Re: gunsmith cleanup
For what it's worth, some folks I know have commented that the 2 1/2" seems to pattern better than the 3" anyway for some reason.

wood stock
Re: gunsmith cleanup
I like the walnut stock material better than the Tenite, but really prefer the Tenite's styling and slimness.
I'm thinking of rasping down the stock on the Savage 24-B to match the Tenite stock contours of the Stevens 22-410.
It's too bad I stink at checkering, though.
