OT Some friends of mine made it through hunting season

Post by pharmseller »

I haven't seen these boys for a while so I was pleasantly surprised to have them show up this morning (1/20), looking for a handout:

Image

The one on the left is Bucky, the little forkie in the middle is Follow, and the largest buck isn't named.

Image

They seemed to get along well, and sure look healthy.

Image

It was clear who ruled the roost, as two spikes and half a dozen or so does waited for these guys to finish. They're behind me, not pictured. I'm interested to see how their antlers come in this year.

I hope you enjoyed the story.

COOOOL...! :D

Are those Mulies or Blacktails. Being from OK, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Are they full grown,...ie shootable or do they need to grow more?

They visit regularly at our place too.

Here's a big boy feeding not thirty feet away from the house. Picture taken through the window of our TV room from my easy chair. He had two other bucks and several does with him. They are Mulies.

By the time this picture was taken, they had made their way around to the front of the house. This is one of the big boy's does saying good-bye.

My deer are blacktail.
As far as maturity, they have a long way to go, although they are "shootable," in that most regs require a forked antler.
Bucky is probably 2 1/2, the bigger one might be 3 1/2.
Most blacktail don't get near as big as mulies, although I've seen a few that would get the heart going.
