Fox calls

Post by Rusty »

I got to thinking about Nate's situation and his having "educated" one of the foxes in his neighborhood. If it's legal in your area one thing you can do is to use a player type boom box that will accept MP3 files. a remote speaker would work the best so you wouldn't have to be right at the sound source but if you'll check online there are numerous places where you can download different sounds. I first ran into some of the sounds several years ago When looking for practice sounds to listen to for turkey calls.

Just a thought,

I don't know about UK foxes but USA foxes aren't all that smart. I've called the same one in twice in one afternoon, yes, I missed him the first time, no, I didn't the second.

Coyotes, on the other hand, will never come to the same call again. They will, sometimes, come to a different one but never in the same day.

I've seen some really neat electronic calls lately, in the $60 range, with a remote to locate it away from you.

Rusty, sounds good at first this idea but it just makes it complicated. The fox around my parts have heard to much from other shooters. Nowa days it's a bonus if some come to a call. Like the weary one yesterday- he had heard it before! I was timeing my recent sessions on foul or cold weather and their hunger. With respect to you and a fox I don't think anyone at anytime can go out and press a button to magic a fox, certainly not around my parts :|

Nath, if the fox in your area, or any area, are called on a regular basis then getting one to come to any call is indeed a rarity. Around here the pressure is just not that high. The coyote has mostly supplanted the fox in our area because the human density has fallen so much in the last 30 years. I just seldom see fox anymore.

I don't know how the electronic calls work, never used one. A friend did buy one a couple days ago to try on coyotes. It seemed to make the right sounds and I guess I'll ask in a couple weeks how it works for him.
