i love knives and have boxes of 'em. they have served me well over the years. i have a knife that is not glamorous, but i have grown to using it more than any other knife save my pocket knife. it is a 1/4" thick 10" blade bowie. the clip is as sharp as the blade edge. i use it for everything. i camp and hunt alot. i find it is the only knife that tend to use. i use it for kindling, clearing a path, easy quartering etc. when at the camp i find it is the single tool i use the most. here is a picture of it. i also threw in a picture of my 94 44 mag and a case trapper to show the size. i will admit the knife is ugly, but you won't destroy it.
In the last couple of weeks I've come to love a knife a bought some months back. It's called a mini Kabar and it does look similar to it's big brother, but the blade is closer to that of a WWII airman's knife. I'm in the process of removing all the paint or coating from the as I use it for cutting food at times when I'm out and about. I need to learn to post pictures.

It's easier to fool people than it is to convince them they have been fooled.
it is an ontario sp 5 and yall are right it is cheap, well built and tough as can be. i don't mind working it to death cause i don't have a fortune buried in it.
i use it regularly when i coon hunt. it is better than any machete due to the 1/4 inch blade. it really can hack it's way through the thick. i will end up getting a second and third for my son and daughter. Hunter is in cub scouts. i am stocking him up with camp hatchet, cookware and knife as he progresses. my daughter when she gets up will be in girl scouts and i will do the same for her too. i am planning on getting one of those really nice hatches for them that will last them a life time. i want to instill quality in them be it fine cutlery or great utility. i don't want them to grow up. i am having fun being a dad.
Ugly is okay if it works. But if it's pretty and works, even better. Here's one of the first catagory. It followed me home when I finished messing around with helicopters.
This one is one that is in the second catagory. Spent yesterday jeepin' in the high desert with this and a Blackhawk as companions.
