More Winchesters! (warning lots of pics)

Post by Aussie Chris »

Well I suppose I am going to gloat all over again

I went to another auction a few months back and bought, yep you guessed it, some more NIB comemmorative Winchester 94's :D

I bid on 6 and won 3.

I won a NIB Oliver F Winchester in 38-55. This rifle has a 24'' octogon barrel and has a gold plated reciever and lever. It has a medallion of Oliver F Winchester and engravings of the Winchester plant. I never thought that the octogon barrel would add so much weight! I will keep this one NIB I think. Image

The second rifle I won at the auction I really really wanted! It is a 16'' trapper Legendary Lawmen Commemorative and has fantastic wood!It is NIB. I have never owned a 16'' barreled Winchester and it feels like a toy in your arms :D I wont shoot this one. Image

The final rifle I won at the auction is a Cheyenne Carbine in .44-40 NIB. It has a lot of gold plating and also studs on the fore end piece. I liked this one because it is different and also has a tang mounted sight. The wood is a little plain though but I won it at a great price. I will keep this NIB Image
It also came with a rolled up poster of a Cheyenne indian riding a horse Image

I did bid on a few others, Calgary Stampede .32 Win Sp NIB, 1978 one of one thousand NIB and a cherokee .22LR NIB but they got a bit too pricey for me.

Just recently I picked up a second hand John Wayne comemmorative in .32-40. It is a little dinged up with a few light scratches but it came with 2 boxes of projectiles, dies, brass and aome loaded ammo. Here it is alongside my new 16'' legendary lawmen Image

Here is a couple of pics of all of my leverguns. I think I have been taking my post quote way too seriously Image Image Image
:D

I bet John Waybe himself could come to your house and find a gun he had no quarrel with!! Nice collection, take care of them, you'll appreciate more in years ahead perhaps.

Now I got it figured out. All the nice Winchester commemoratives went to Australia and Canada. We got shorted here.

Congrats on the auction wins. Some of those made me drool too.

Thanks guys :) If I get one more rifle, I have to get an effective alarm system for the house. 15 or more=alarm.

Yeah JReed, alot of people here have said they like the full length forearm peice on the RCMP 30-30.
I'm not a huge fan but bought it at a good price and because it is different.
I'm just spewing it is unfired but came with no box :(

Wow! What a beautiful collection of Winchesters.

Do you have to get a permit or license or such to buy every firearm in Oz?

Now, that's a nice collection of comerative winchesters. I have owned a few, and still have a shooter "Antlered Game" and an unfired "Legendary Lawman" which I added a Williams recever sight to, since the rear open sight was damaged, but I havn't fired it yet, but I am going to.

Thanks for the comments gents.

w30wcf, yeah I would love some of the comemmorative ammunition. I have a box for the bicentennial, legendary frontiersmen, some John Wayne boxes and bought some of the new 'Duke' headstamped in 30-30 and 44-40. Funny how the Little Big Horn stuff in your pic only comes in the small box of 20. Wish I had alll the comemmorative ammo for all my rifles..

MikeS, yeah you need to obtain your firearms licence first. Then if intending to buy firearms and store them, get a gunsafe that has to be bolted down to the floor or wall. Then for each rifle you have to get a permit to acquire form. It is a bit of a hassle but is worth it in the end as you can see :D
