Had to share! My wife and I just got back from our Florida trip, and what a blast. My self-customized Marlin came through on this 400 lb beast of a lizard, just a whisker under 11 ft long. Range was 60 yds, only had his eyeballs visible out of the water. A 410 grain WLN cast bullet under IMR 3031 solved all problems though...........
Check the guts first though... some folks don't like the idea of eating a man-eater...

Not Depressed enough yet? Go read National Geographic, July 1976 Gott und Gewehr mit uns!
Now that is WAY COOL. I have spent a lot of time in Florida but never hunted it. The guide gun looks like the ticket for those bad boys. I have eaten them. Gator tail is mighty good eating. Good on ya both!!!!!
Gator IS good! Leverguns are good! Florida is ok... The photos are great. Your lovely wife has a smile that comes near to outdoing the alligator. Thanks for posting.

Sure did have fun on this trip - much as I enjoyed my part of the hunt, it was even better watching my wife get hers (first). She snuck up on hers lying on a bank using a small hill for cover, and shot the beast through the noggin at only 10 yds! Now THAT made a husband proud!!!!
Could you give some details? I've got family in Florida and my wife is always aching to visit. If a gator hunt is possible and affordable, I'd like to say "honey, let's go visit sis." I expect there's pigs around the area as well.
Anyway, congratulations on a successful few days in the bush.
Great pictures and thank you for removing them from our waters. I hope you got to eat some of the tail. those teeth would make a nice necklace/conversion piece for your bride. I bet she'd be the first gal on the block to own one.

It's easier to fool people than it is to convince them they have been fooled.
That must have been a great hunt and they are good eating, taste just like gator. I know that they can be killed with leverguns, even an old '92 32wcf can take a 10 foot gator.

The 45-70 does it again, great photo. I think every animal on the plant has been taken with that little thumper.

Wow, I never would have thought a person could hunt Gator. I need to look into this. What a great hunt you had. I am indeed envious as my wife will not shoot a gun at all, although she encourages my love for the martial art of shooting I have 45-70s in Sharps, 1886 and a Springfield Trapdoor Carbine. I would never think of putting a scope on one of those but I trully love the looks of your Marlin. Maybe I need one?!
