Hey Jeff, is the toe on the stock broken? Did you give someone a "verticle buttstroke" with it? :D

BTW, Is that a newby by Davidsons?

Don't know why the rest of the picture didn't post, but it has a half octagon/round barrel. Hopefully, just the picture is busted, and not the stock!

Those are beautiful rifles, but the price has climbed steadily in the few years since the introduction. They now are bringing what originals did several years ago. I'd pick one up if the price was right. :)

+1. Is that a crack slightly above the missing piece? Still nice though.

Maybe Davidson's is having a "scatch 'n' dent" sale. :D Too bad, nice piece of walnut.

That is a nice rifle. I just wish the new '86's used the same reddish stain as the originals.

+1 That original Winchester stain, at least to my tastes, was darn-near perfection! :D

It looks like a selection was made around the rifle and then it was put on that white background and part of the stock was cut out in the process. Thats my guess anyway.

Looks like the toe is busted off, look about an inch higher on the stock, looks like another crack.

Nice piece of wood though, I agree with Kirk D. when he has the stock repaired, he can have the stock restained at the same time. it would also look good with CCH hammer & lever...but thats just opinion.

I have one very similar to yours. B-86 solid frame, saddle ring rifle .45-90. PRETTY! 1886.
