336ZG range report & bolt swap out question

Post by neil mitchell »

I am getting some FTF's and it looks like light firing pin strikes.I have taken firing pin out and cleaned it and hole in bolt with carb cleaner.Pin was very oily when I removed it.Still have problem.
Can I swap out this bolt with the one from my 1980 336 and not expect any problems?
Reason for asking is I plan to go hunting in A.M.
Here's a pic of .50in 3 shot group at 50yds.Top hole had two rds thru it.

NO!! Dont swap bolts or locking bolts, They are fitted to the rifle and a switch could cause dangerous headspace problems. A smith with a headspace gauge can do it safely.
