That .32-20 #5 RB is nice - I just bought what I thought was a #4 RB in .32 rimfire (the bottom barrel flat was simply stamped: ".32") - until I noticed that the breechblock had two firing pin holes !
I just got a bunch of brandy-new .32 Short Colt ammo, from a gun shop - so I'm in the roller business again !

Well, when I was picking up the Winchester Trapper, that I had swapped a Randall Trapper for, I spotted two #4 Remington Rolling Block rifles resting one in back of the other on two long pegboard hooks, for sale.
The front one was a .22 take-down, in so-so condition, with a $475 price tag on it.
So, I looked at the back one.
No price on the tag, the dealer told me NSN, and when I questioned:" .32 rimfire, huh?", he said "Yeah".
I liked the gun, since it was in very good condition, so I mentioned:" That rimfire stuff's almost impossible to get - you got any ?" "Nope."
I was still looking the gun over while this conversation was going on, and rolled the breechblock open.
Lo & behold, there were two firing pin holes in the face of the breechblock - one on center, the other off center.
Since I know even a fish wouldn't get caught, if he kept his mouth shut, I said nothing - except:" How much do ya want for this?"
The dealer said he'd like to make $10 on it, so'd how did $225 sound ?
I told him that the next sound he'd be hearing would be my wallet opening - and OTD, both guns in hand we went !
When I got home, I found the serial number (which the dealer couldn't find, so thought NSN) on the bottom barrel flat, and started trying various .32 centerfire pistol ammo in the chamber, after questions here on the forum.
The one that came closest to fitting was .32 S&W, after .32 S&W Long wouldn't go all the way in. But, the .32 S&W was just a tad too fat at the base, to let the breechblock fully close.
I saw .32 Short Colt on the www for $50/box of 50, but was leaving shortly for my annual Maine hunting trip, and postponed the ammo purchase.
Good thing - on the way through Maine, another hunting party member stopped to purchase his hunting license. While he was doing that, I looked over the ammo selection in the store - and there on the shelf was new Winchester .32 Short Colt - 50 rounds for $25 !
So - When I went to a gun show, later - I spotted an old, simple vernier tang sight, that I was able to buy for $50.
Now, I'm in roller heaven.

That roller at auction is not #5. Sombody needs to learn their Rolling Blocks before they auction them.

The #5 is a old military receiver, which has a round top, and was never chambered in .32-20.
The real confirmation of a #2 action is the "scalloped" rear edge of the receiver. No other Remington RIFLE used this, but the old pistols did.
It's been said that the #2 action evolved from the pistol frame, with modifications. Hopefully I'll win this auction!
This is my #2 in .22LR.-Vall

Whooo Hooo! Looks like a got the #2 for a very good price! I hate the Gunbroker 15 minute rule! Some jerk kept hitting the bid button every time it was almost over! Still went for a very good price considering it was a #2, which is way more valuable than a #5!-Vall
