I was just wondering, I have been tempted to pick up a post 1964 Commerative octagon barrel model 94 Winchester, but most all of the the octagon barrel models were made in the middle to late 60 with the thin sheetmetal loading lifter.
I know some have not had any problems with those, but many have and I was wondering if it's an easy swap out to a solid steel lifter like the later post 64's have.
Second thought is did any of the octagon barrel commeratives have the better steel lifter in them? I know all of them that I have checked had the flimsey sheet metal one. The later commeratives did have the better lifter, like the Antlered Game, Legendary Lawman, Well's Fargo, etc. because I have owned those, but none of those are hex barrels.
Changing out those sheetmetal lifters in a 64 or later model
