This yak was "parked" here for a long time and ended up being the only one. There was a big charity event that asked for meat donations so he volunteered. Two quick shots in succession at 58 yards with the 405 gr Kodiak bullets. Down and out. Thank you Mr. Yak for your contribution to charity.

I shot him and he started to run so I laid another in there. He fell within about 30 yards and went to the land of BBQ

I always pictured a YAK as being much woolier, do they shed in the spring?

fm94: I don't know much about the 44-40 but if you think you can get 15" + of penetration and make a good behind the shoulder shot up to 50 yards I am willing to let you find out how it does. Worst case we can take another shot, a head shot or switch up to a more potent rifle.

Andrew;
As far as I'm concerned, "You win!" That was funny - well, at least at 6:15 in my morning it was!

Forget it then, I'm not coming.

Yak is one of the two animals I'm allergic to. found out the hard way, at a livestock auction. Almost went into shock. I steer clear (ba dump bump.............ting) of Yaks.
