OT: I think my wife may be right...

Post by O.S.O.K. »

I am a sick man. Obsessed.

I was just over to see my buddy at the fun shop and there's sits a nice Remmy 12 Guage Wingmaster on his rack... I love old Wingmasters - so light, so well made and they just fit me so well. Not all shotty buttstocks are friendly to my face - some pop me right in the cheekbone and needless to say, that's not conducive to good shooting.

The price was $325 and so, I put a $20 on the counter and told him to hold if for me.... he said "I don't need that" but I said - "I always give you grief for not taking deposits from other people so take it" :)

That way I just have to go back and give him the cash.

It's a 2 3/4" chamber with fixed modified choke - perfect for dove, quail, grouse, etc.... not that I need another one but, my wife is right.

I'll post a pic or two when it gets home. ;)

One of my favorites. The price seems fair enough too. I've got away from shotguns over the last several years. I've only got three in the safe right now, but I've been eyeing an 1100 LT-20 at a local shop. Had one just like it a few years ago and have regretted selling it ever since.

No you're not!!! You're a man with excellent judgement and good taste in shotguns...and you can quote me to your wife if you dare!!! :D :D :D

I have a 35 year old Wingmaster with a beautiful dark American walnut stock and multiple barrels for ducks, geese, and brown bear defense. I wouldn't trade it or sell it for a new shotgun of any variety! My Wingmaster and I have been to too many places hunting together (and keeping brown bears off of moose meat.) As far as I'm concerned the Rem. 870 is the best pump shotgun ever made, and the old Wingmasters are the best of the 870s!

I still have my first shotgun: a 20-ga. Wingmaster bought new by yours truly, age 13, in 1980 with "my own money" at Carter's Country in Houston. This was back when the 20s were made on 12-ga. receivers. Great gun, in my humble estimation. It's one of the few guns I own of which I could never see ridding myself.

I have a Wingmaster that is an old retired police gun. It has a 20" barrel and a parkerized finish or what's left of it. I can still take it out in the back pasture and hit 15 out of 20 birds thrown with a Taurus trap.

Jr. just bough a 3 1/2" (kids) Express with a laminated stock. I guess it runs in the family.

I know what you mean, those 870's call out to me every time I walk in the candy store. And yes, "deny, deny, deny" is the appropriate course of action. :D

That sounds like a fair deal. Congratulations on your find. I currently don't own a wingmaster but my father has several as he swears that it is the finest pump-gun ever built. I fancy the win model 12 myself but have to agree that the 870 is much more durable with a quicker action.

I don't think your sick though. Do you know what year it was made?
