This was passed onto me from a lady member of one of my clubs, makes you think about how you handle loaded ammo.

When I worked for Westley Richards they were still making their own brand of cartridges, Game Load and 729 Express both 12 gauge.
Every now and then one coming down the shoot into the collecting box would hit a primer just right and set it off. The girls that did the packing would scream and run for the door but the bird shot flew out with very little power. But boy it got your attention!!

All of my reload go back into a styrofoam and factory box and then stored in the military ammo cans. I never liked the idea of loose ammo bouncing around in a ammo can. I may not get as many in a can but I can grab a box when I need them.

Color me skeptical.... even with "soft" federal primers - especially in Pistol ammo.

Even assuming it DID happen, it's not the fault of the storage, but the fault of a bad (overly sensitive) primer.

Any primer sensitive enough to go off from dropping in a bucket of non-spire-point ammo is going to go off in your mag tube.
