Pete, the flight pay wasn't for those flights, it was for the other ones. It and "combat" pay have one thing in common. The actual condtions that must be met to receive the pay, aren't worth the pay. But we were young and not so bright back then. We looked at it as free money for beer.

IIRC, Phu Cat RVN NCO club, 15 cents per Pabst Blue Ribbon with rust on the top of the can, but cold. 10c at happy hour with free cold cuts and cheese ( we didnt call it cold cuts, but there it is )
It's all fun until the targets start shooting back.

Thanks Pete....great pictures. Here is a picture of "the Pig" from the mid-80's at Fort Carson, CO...spent most of my time as a 60 gunner there. A fickle mistress she was.......

If you think the 60 was a pig, you should try it's replacement the 240B. I just spent some time last week packing one around the MT mountains with 40lb ruck, body armor, and half the basic load of 1200. It sucks being the big guy sometimes.

You have my respect Frank. As I was told as a young private..."This thing will either kill you or make a man out of you". I often carried the Pig, tripod and my own ammo load, along with my Ruck/cold weather gear over those mountains. I will never be in that kind of shape again......

What happened to the Bud and Miller cans? Did they cook off? If they did, that would be the world's most disgusting conex.
