Max,
I've been doing that for some time but I feel its too late. Not many people are going to be able to afford $1000 a month to fill up their heating oil tank this winter so..........I believe its time to lock and load---be prepared.

I spent the day in Lancaster County, Pa. last Saturday. The roads are usually choked with tourism and people running errands. I da_m near had the roads to myself. This is the summer and most people still have some money/credit. Winter is going to be bad.

I have received letters from my Congressman telling me about a (another!) free program to insulate your house is you are financially challenged. I wrote back telling him thats its too little--too late and that I have been stockpiling "items of necessity"--------------Sixgun

Keep it really short and simple:

"If you don't vote to allow more exploration, drilling, recovery, and refining - along with more nuclear power plants - you will NOT get my vote this fall, and I will make it my personal mission to let as many people that I know in your district that you are PART OF THE PROBLEM, instead of part of the solution".

Music to my ears.

Those of us in the exploration side of the oil industry just want to say thanks. It truly brings a tear to the eye to see the love you all have for us now.

+1 Listen to them - a lot of them are PO'd that gas at $4/gallon hasn't changed our driving habits much. Since we are not all on bicycles yet, or riding only on mass-transit, they continue to pressure the Dem's to DO NOTHING. They have even stated that gas needs to be double what it is now - $8/gallon - before they will be happy.

+2 Always liked "big oil" - I appreciate our standard of living (as a country), my standard of living, and not having to walk everywhere I go. That's all due to energy boys and girls - and most of that is oil and natural gas coming from "big oil"...

Recently I have been working on construction of a powerhouse that burns WOOD. Not a big powerhouse. The primary
boiler is 900hp. The secondary is 300hp. This powerhouse is located on a high profile DOE nuclear site. I have never
worked at a place that has so many tours. Two or three a day all week long. This place is more popular than the
White House. All these engineers , brains, and politicians stand around marveling at this NEW TECHNOLOGY. The thing
burns wood chips like the ones you see by the road grinding up stumps and limbs. They are even going to sell the ashes
for fertilizer. I talked tothe company rep. He said they built much bigger ones and smaller too. Been doing this for 30yre
all over the world. Check them out at

Boy, if you want to set me off, just mention this subject

Every time I write my Democrat Senator (Bill Nelson) telling him to get off the pot and allow the U.S. to drill for its own oil, instead of buying it from Hugo Chavez, Nigeria, Russia, and every Islamic terrorist state, he responds with a different excuse.

First it was "we need renewable sources of energy (My car, freight trains, airplanes, ships, and trucks that carry cargo don't run on sunshine or wind you a**hole!):

Then "we need to tax big oil, it's all their fault" (Now there's an idea, bring down the price of a product by adding a tax to it. Why didn't I think of that):

And of course the unassailable "GLOBAL WARMING! the sky is falling, the sky is falling!" (So if burning fossil fuels is causing our global warming, what is causing global warming on Mars and Venus? Let me take a guess..........why the only source of heat for all of the planets, the SUN! Increased solar activity results in more radiant energy to the planets. Who could have imagined, certainly not Bill Nelson):

Next it was "we need to regulate the speculators, it's all their fault" (I may partly agree with him there):

Before that it was "we don't want to have oil spilling on our wonderful beaches (excuse me, I don't remember any oil spills in 2005 when Hurricanes Katrina and Rita turned every oil rig in the Western Gulf of Mexico upside down):

To the latest excuse, "our military needs the entire Eastern Gulf of Mexico as a training area so we can't build oil rigs there" (tell me again what is more important to our military after Israel bombs the Iranian nuclear plants and Iran blockades the Straits of Hormuz and NO oil can leave the Middle East)

Now I hear "Bush needs to tap into the strategic oil reserves" (That reserve is there as a contingency for the scenario described above, not as a substitute for increasing domestic production):

Or they say "We can't drill our way out of high prices, why it would be 10 years before we could produce any oil" (If Bill Clinton hadn't vetoed drilling in ANWR 10 years ago, we wouldn't need to wait 10 years would we? You can also bet that that oil futures would take a nose dive the minute we gave the OK to drilling)

The Democrats advertise themselves as champions of the poor and working class. Ask the average working class family how gas prices have affected them (and food price increases caused by the brilliant idea to turn our food into fuel and peg the price of corn to oil). Then tell me how refusing to drill for our own oil is beneficial to the average family.

And the Republican Senator (Mel Martinez) hasn't been much better.

IDIOTS!

It gets worse. This morning I picked up the newspaper and read that Congressional leaders (Congressional leaders=Democrats) are "quietly" talking about raising the gas tax! Why? People are driving less because of high gas prices, so tax revenue is down. The gas tax is used to fund highway construction. Being a use tax the theory should be that increased usage equals increased need for more road construction and repair. Conversely, less usage should equate to decreased need.

Apparently the Democrats don't see it that way. Under no circumstances can tax revenue to the government be allowed to decrease. The reason? The road construction money is the biggest pork barrel available to most Congressmen to dip into for bringing home the bacon to their districts. If you look behind the scenes, you will find the highway construction lobbyists pushing money at the Dems to push for the tax increase.

And the Republicans, if they follow form from the past 10 years or so, will seek a "compromise" in order to not appear to confrontational with the Dems. At the front of the line leading the charge to compromise will be "why can't we all just get along" John McCain.
