What's the mag capacity on a 94AE in 45 Colt 20"

Post by 86er »

My 94AE is a 20" barrel with a full length mag tube. How many are supposed to fit in the mag tube? I have never loaded more than 5, and I don't have an owners manual - just curious - and I don't want to shove more than I'm supposed to in there. Any other opinions or comments are welcome.

Eleven (11) rounds, according to my 2006 Winchester catalog.

Thanks - just to be clear, that is 11 rounds IN THE MAG? or total capacity?

86er,

I was going to be a smart aleck and tell you to just load it up and find out, but then I thought better of it.

Owners manuals can be had from Browning, and many places on the web.
But I'm sure you know that.

OBTW, my 16" Win 94AE Trapper will hold 9 in the tube, but my 20" Marlin in .45 Colt will only hold 10 in the mag. Number 11 just wont fit. I wonder what's up with that. Maybe if I used shorter bullets ..............

The catalog says Capacity: 11, so I would presume it refers to the capacity of the entire gun, not just the magazine.

Sorry, if I misled you - but why bother your noodle ? If you overload it, the last cartridge will only go about halfway into the loading gate, so, do so - then stop, cycle one into the chamber & load one more in the mag, for a full gun.

My 94AE with a 20" bbl will hold 11 rounds in the magazine (+1 in the chamber if I want) but it's a tight fit.

Thank you all - Baed on the info I'm comfortable putting 9 in the mag and 1 in the chamber and knowing I'm not stressing it out. It would be rare for me to load that much anyway but a plan is brewing....
