Looking for good quality pull on cowboy work boots
I have worn hand made Nocona buckeroo boots and White's Logger boots since the 1990's. My old Nocona's have been resouled 4 times and the last time my boot repairman said this will be the last time there, because just insn't anything left to work with. So last year I purchased a pair of Justin pull on cowboy style work boots. They are made in China and completely fell apart in less than 10 months. I replaced them with a pair of Ariats and they lasted maybe a full year before they also disintegrated. I have been looking at all the local feed stores and western wear stores and everything they have is Chinese pelosi.
Does anybody know of any good quality, preferably American made, pull on Cowboy boots with work souls?
Edit- I forgot to add, I hate square toe boots. If I exhaust all possibilities and square turns out to be the only option, then I might be able to make myself wear them. But I highly prefer not to if I don't have to.

No brainer. Red Wing. They have several styles and most are US made.

I was very disappointed with my last pair of pull on work boots (Ariat) as the sole came off the boot proper in a couple of months.
Shoddy is all I can say.

Chippewa, Thorogood and Carolina have always been good boots for me.
I have some Ariat WorkHog pull on boots, but I only wear them to Church for dress boots.

Austin, Texas boot company called TECOVAS. Originally made in Austin with leather from Old Mexico. I heard these were good boots and needed new boots. They have an outlet here in Georgetown and I went there, was treated very nicely by the Staff, tried on several different styles and ended up with a pair.
These were made in Vietnam. Nice boot. Replaceable sole and heel, unlike many that are being sold today. Can be repaired if need be. We will see how they hold up but so far they are doing well.

Not too much in the way of footwear is still made in the USA.
I agree - most of the stuff made in China just doesn't last.
I bought a pair of Merrills that were supposed to be the
cat's meow. The soles didn't last 6 months before repair was
needed.
Shoes made in Asia are mostly overpriced throwaway items.
I have a couple of pairs of Chippewas that were made in the US.
They have held up well.
Were I in your shoes,
I might spring for a pair of Whites.
There are still a couple of models made by Chippewa in the US.
Mostly steel toe, and my feet have never gotten along with steel
toed boots. YMMV.

First choice; "Double H," American, union made. Quality through and through. Second choice; "Lucchese," High quality, made in Mexico. Mexicans know more about boots than the Chinese.

I will second what Jeepnik said. Red Wing Pecos pull on work boots are made in the USA. I usually get several years use out of a pair. I also use Red Wing Irishsetter
lace up hunting/work boots. Very comfortable and durable even though they are made in China.

I had forgotten about Red Wing. They are not really a brand that comes to my mind when I think of cowboy boots. I will give them a look.
I also forgot about Double H. All the local stores used to carry Double H boots and I used to wear their lace up packer vowboy boots in the 1990's. Nobody seems to carry them locally anymore and I figured the company shut down or something. I will give them a look too.
I just checked White's website. Closest they come to slip on cowboy boots are motorcycle boots. Not really what I am looking for.

I still have a pair of bullhide packers from Double H. Had the heels replaced once. That's it. Had them for a quarter century. But of course they are not pull-on boots. I'd like a pair of these as well. Hurts to bend over and tie my shoes.

Dieselman, bought mine at the Big R in White City, Oregon.
Re: Looking for good quality pull on cowboy work boots
Very nice! I have a lot of guns and reloading supplies from the Big R mostly fromnthe one in K falls and much of it purchased in the 1980's. Like this set of RCBS 22-250 dies that sold for $16.Bill in Oregon wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 8:26 pm Dieselman, bought mine at the Big R in White City, Oregon.
I am closer to the Woodburn area these days.
Strange, the price tag doesn't seem readable after uploading it. It is very readable in person.

Re: Looking for good quality pull on cowboy work boots
I had a pair of Double H pull on steel toe work boots years ago which stood up to two years working in a compressor station for Northern Natural natural gas company. Rocks, dirt, cement, oil, chemicals, expanded metal cat walk, and who knows what else all in a day, every day. Those Double H were a Wellington style. They stood up to it. If I recall, they were reasonably priced. When I joined the Army, they looked rough, but were still all in one piece, no holes, and serviceable. My mother threw them away while I was in North Carolina because they stunk from all the chemicals and oil from those leaky Cooper Bessemer engines with the 16 ton flywheel.

Re: Looking for good quality pull on cowboy work boots
Currently on my second pair. First pair lasted about 3 years. Current pair is at about 2.5 years. Wear almost every day. Been through it all. Working cattle, hunting, in town, hiking, working on farm equipt, farming etc. Been in mud, cow stuff and who knows what else.
First pair was 185 but the second pair was a little over 200 like in the link below. Once these are worn out I will likely get another pair just because I know they get the job done.

Georgia Comfort Core Cowboy Boots G4743 are the most comfortable and tough pull-ons I've ever worn. They have enough heel to stay in the stirrup, too. They are no longer produced but you can find new-old stock occasionally. My first pair lasted over 20 years, current pair will probably be all I need.
