It was snowing here earlier. Never know around here. Least it didn't amount to anything.
I should really try and make it up to camp this week. I'm not sure the weather is going to be all that cooperative, but oh well.

Did some ribs on the grill, 40 min at 500°. Got a rack but did not realize it was a bit large.!

Well, that looks delicious, Fred. I searched all over my inbox, even my spam folder and I still haven't located my invitation.

You just tell me when you’re coming and we’ll do it up again

Thanks, Fred!
I lived in San Diego for about 6 months in '76 and then in Escondido for about a year thereafter. I was a member of the Lake Wohlford Gun Club during my time in Escondido and really enjoyed that.

I wrote this once before but when I went to post it froze up. Gets tiresome....
I went up to camp Wednesday and hiked around. Checked my trails to see how they fared through the winter. Took a Winchester 44 Trapper and my Colt SAA. I have a few trees to cut out of the trail but not much really. Then I took the kids 4 wheeler and rode around all our logging roads. Nothing at all to cut.
The snow is now all gone but it's still way too soft to drive in. I'm impatient for it to thaw and dry up so I can haul that wood in and get it off my front lawn. I also need to get going on a shed for the wood and the tractor. I really need to draw up some plans!
I did get my TW out this week. I haven't rode it other than in the dooryard. It's still pretty cool. It was spitting snow before I left for work tonight. Still need to get the DRZ out. Maybe next week.

One of my favorite fishing lakes in the 80's. Along with Skinner lake in Temecula. But like most of the lakes in SoCal rampant development pretty much destroyed what was good about them. I haven't been fresh water fishing in probably 10 years. But fortunately I have this big blue thing down the street with plenty of fish.

Temperature here is up to 64 f daytime and down to 30 f at night, at least it's been mostly dry. I'm still searching for the elusive Squirrels, at this rate my ammo will never run out..

I went for a ride on my BMW today. I left home at 7:00 this morning and returned at 11:45. I rode a loop through the beautiful Jemez Mountains to an elevation of about 9,000' and then returned through Los Alamos and Santa Fe. I'm proud of the old bike; got 55.7 mpg and it ran great. I'm still cold....
Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect (continued)
Glad you got out Walt!
Haha yeah. Those early and late season rides seem to make your bones cold. It's hard to shake it off.
I rolled into Rangeley on my Harley one morning coming over the hump from Stratton. I was froze, and had a long ride ahead of me to get home. Oddly enough, it was the middle if summer.

Haha oh yeah. I am an admitted fair weather rider. The strange part is I think nothing of riding a snowmobile all winter........
I remember one morning I was giving the boys a ride to school. It was snowing like crazy and just as we were pulling into the high school driveway, a girl was pulling in coming from the other direction. She was driving a Jeep with no top or doors. I said, "One of you boys should marry that girl."
They didn't listen. But they all did pretty well, so I can't complain.

Beautiful day here yesterday. It was 70 and sunny. I dug out the DRZ. All the toys are out now so all is right with the world.
May head to camp today. It's going to be another nice day.
In firearms related news, my son in Alaska texted me the other night and told me he scored a minty 4 inch Smith model 624. I am really jealous.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect (continued)
The joints at the base of my thumbs are in terrible shape so I don't shoot my Smiths much any more due to the hump at the top of the grip frame hitting my lower thumb in recoil. However, I do love my Smiths and I have both a model 24-3 and a 624. They're fine guns.
A couple of my single action favorites are a Ruger medium frame Bisley Flattop with a 5 1/2" barrel in .44 spl and a Freedom Arms 5 1/2" model 97 in .45 Colt.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect (continued)
Good stuff Walt! I always kicked myself for not getting a 24, but I was young and broke. A few months before I graduated we were out at my late friend's shop one evening. My father told him to order whatever handgun I wanted. That was some big deal in the house I grew up in, let me tell you. Quite taken aback, I thought it over and ordered a 6" model 629. I never regretted it, and still have it today.
A couple years later my buddy took in a 3" round butt model 624 with the box. I wanted that so bad, but I still didn't have the cash. I told my boy if he didn't like his new Smith I'd give him his money back.
I did get up to camp today. Beautiful day out. Pulled the old tractor out of hibernation. She started right up. Took a ride down to the stream and dad unlimbered his old Colt woodsman and started blasting at something floating in the stream. I shot my RXM some more. I put the full size grip on. I really like it.
Here's a picture of dad and one of my old 629 and the Buck 102 he bought for me when I was about 10.

Very nice OS! When I bought my last Colt SAA I wanted a 44 Special. Sadly, it's a custom shop only chambering now. Price for that or a used one was pretty high, so I got another 45.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect (continued)
On a trip to Bass Pro Shops several years ago in search of loading components, I found a Freedom Arms m97 in .45 Colt in their used gun section. I just had to have it so I traded a Thunder Ranch .44 spl and a Colt New Frontier .44 spl with a 7 1/2" barrel for it.
They may have gotten the better end of the deal but I treasure the FA. It's a wonderful firearm.
