Pay the insurance when you ship a gun!
I had to ship my .480 double rifle back to the maker for a minor repair. He called me today and he thinks UPS may have lost the rifle. He was very upset and apologized profusely.
Hopefully it will turn up, but if not, I am insured.

I hope it turns up Scott!

.
Hope they find it - the scary thing is it isn't just another 'stock item' that would be easy to replace, AND is a fancy enough item that it might be more tempting to steal than a Mossberg 500 pump shotgun or Ruger 10/22.
I've always insured not only the 'value' but if possible, the 'cost to replace', whatever the item was.
I just sent a no-longer-made small engine carburetor for rebuild/cleaning, and insured it for $500 because by the time I located another used one (if even possible), had it rebuilt/repaired, or adapted some other one to the engine (if even possible), or re-powered the equipment (gearbox driven so maybe crazy), it would be quite expensive.

That stinks, I hope it turns up. As already stated it's not like you can buy another like it off the rack somewhere.

I hope it turns up too, but if it doesn't be prepared for a battle to collect on insurance! I've won more than I lost, but when I've lost it was because the shipper used every excuse in the book trying to wiggle out pf paying. Things like not having a receipt to show what you paid for a gun, or not having a canceled check, with both sides copied to prove you bought it for the insured price. It's not going to be fun or easy to collect insurance.

Good luck. I promise you this: they already have their "reasons" -- a long list of them -- why your claim will be invalid. I pray for unlimited patience and fortitude in your efforts...

If it doesn’t get there , report it as STOLEN.

I’ve traced it to a drop off location (CVS store) where the recipient was to pick it up.
Let’s give it a couple of days to see what happens.

Don’t know if shipping to a pharmacy is legit , around here it would certainly raise eyebrows .
But then , commienecticut has it’s own set of rules .

One of The Shootings was pharmacist who had an FFL and sold through his place of business. He always said he dealt in drugs and guns. Located here in Texas. No problems.

The rifle appears to be lost. I’ll initiate a claim today.

Man, that sucks! I hope it turns up. I just mailed my 1876 off for repair two days ago. I insured it but not for what it would cost for a full replacement.

I'm driving 325 miles each way next week to buy a Ballard rifle for this very reason! I wont trust anything of value to shippers these days, regardless of who the shipper is! Going to be a long 11 hour drive there and back, but I'll know it's going to be safer.

MY RIFLE HAS BEEN FOUND!!!!
I made the claim and in less than two hours my rifle was located and the gunsmith has it in his possession.
All is good.

Glad you found it. It's scary shipping stuff, that's expensive.
