Last year I wanted a SAA size revolver that I could carry daily. Brian Pearce’s recommendation was a late production USFA Rodeo.
So I found this one and today I went over a thousand rounds.

Re: 1,003 rounds later
I didn’t really do anything but shoot it. (I did change the trigger return/ bolt spring with a wire one.). And I always loaded it properly. Note that there’s no turn line on the cylinder. The gun is properly timed so you don’t ever drag the cylinder bolt IF you load it properly from the loading notch and always bring the hammer back to full cock before letting it down on an empty chamber.
I was carrying a Colt but last June I decided to have it stocked in elephant ivory. It did not turn out well so I sent it to Paul Persinger in El Paso to get it right.
Turns out that I really like the Rodeo and it is every bit as well made as any Colt…jut not as pretty.

Re: 1,003 rounds later
Brian has one like it, an E series Rodeo. But he has put over 20,000 rounds through that one and it’s one of his favorites.
He talks about it in this video. About 45 minutes in.

He also shows this gun off first in this video. (Which they just posted).

I've only seen one USFA for sale around here in the last 10 years or so, 5 1/2" Rodeo. I should have grabbed it but I was holding out for a 4 3/4 (yeah, I'm not real bright sometimes).

I owned a 5 1/2" in .44 special for a while, and currently own a 5 1/2" .45 Colt.
The all American USFA's are the finest SAA clones ever built, and give Freedom Arms a run for their money for best single action revolvers ever made.

I saw that video on "Perfect Packin' Pistols " too ! (with appropriate homage to Taffin)
Geez -- i remember when those were $600 sixguns -- the Rodeo version that is -- and that was '06ish - '08ish
That is fun stuff--- i am currently making a deal on a big load of once fired 45 Colt brass that i can have fun with for my Blackhawk --- but the Rodeo is in my cerebral cortex as something i need when i can !

Re: 1,003 rounds later
I have Blackhawks and Colts but this USFA Rodeo is just about perfect for a packing sixgun. 6 gr of Red Dot and a 250 gr RNFP clocks about 820 fps and is a very useful tool.
Step up to 8 Gr of 231 and it gets about 870 fps with the same bullet and may be more accurate. I’m not really sure.
A 270 gre SWC over 7.5 gr TiteGroup goes about 970 and that’s all the power I need in a sixgun.

Great to have a trusted friend on your side. Thanks for sharing that about Brian's, 20,000 is a good long test.
