Sometimes the Deer kills the Human.
But at least humans try to only kill deer after the babies are weaned…

Re: Sometimes the Deer gets the Human...
Our old mailman hit a deer on his Harley, beat him up pretty badly.
Couple years ago a guy hit a bear on his Harley, put him in the hospital, killed the bear but his buddies were able to ride the bike back to his house.
Honest truth, a buddy of mine, going into the Army decided he was going to kill a deer with a knife. A small doe walked under the stand he was in. A leap of faith with a Gerber dagger in hand he flopped onto that deer who was a bucking bronco in a previous life. Somehow he was just barely able to hold on until gravity took over when that doe proceeded to stomp the pelosi out of him. Battered and bruised, some blood and lesson learned! And no, not a drop of deer blood was spilled.

As a retired State Trooper, this was common (not the mom of twins), deer causing accidents or being hit.

Yeah if they hit the bumper not too bad for the humans in the vehicle, but if they come at windshield-height, it gets bad real fast.
That's one of the reasons hitting a horse is so bad. They are huge and the body is at the height of the windshield.

Yup, that's the problem/risk when hitting a moose too!!!

More common to hit cattle out here. 1200 pounds of hide, bones, and beef will damage a car.

moose can be a problem:

i was going 66 mph on a four lane outside of anchorage, and a moose popped up from the deep median and we collided. the windshield pillar saved my life, i am sure. truck was totalled
i got a cut on my left eyebrow from the side mirror which hit me pretty hard
i loved that truck! that was about 9 years ago.

Not too many years back deer collisions were the #1 cause of auto insurance claims in SC. Then, in a matter of just a few years the coyote population exploded, deer numbers plummeted, and deer-car crashes went 'waaayyy down.
Some believe that insurance companies introduced the coyote. I used to work in the insurance industry, so out of respect for my own life I don't say what I think...

So sad about the new Mom....
I've always said that the most dangerous thing most of us will do today is jump in the car or truck and run up and down the roads.
Not a deer, but a Sheriff's Deputy was killed recently after hitting a horse in the road before daylight...
