Would anyone be interested in modelling 18, 19 and 20 grains of 2400 powder in a starline 44 special case with a 240 grain XTP( or similar jacketed bullet)? I know its way above normal 44sp or even +P but Im testing loads to 44 mag pressures in the case. Question is am I still in that ballpark....
I have loads already tested to 16.5 grains which got 1370fps average from my Rossi 92 20" barrel. I have loads up to 18 grains ready to test next. I probably wont test much higher regardless what quickload says but would be interested to know what the math is saying,

Re: Quickload request for 44 special
Thanks for sharing the info. I honestly expected the Unique to do a little better out of a 20" barrel.

Re: Quickload request for 44 special
Funnily enough Im not happy with some of the rifle cartridge velocities I took the same day. I was having a few misreads as well. I might re-run these loads alongside a buddies garmin chrony and double check.

Sorry, I've been out of town.
For 2400, reporting QL's numbers as: charge, fps from 20", and psi:
Powder lot variations alone prevent QL from accurately converting charge weight into fps and psi. I generally use it to estimate psi from fps. Averaging your chronographed fps and playing with charge weight until the fps is matched (and adding your measured charge to the report):
So, it looks as if QL is off about 1 gn of charge. Calling your proposed 20 gn a 19 gn input for QL, it reckons 1682 fps at 28,400 psi, a load your Rossi should easily handle.
Note that QL used the SAAMI max COL of 1.615" at which it thinks the XTP is seated only .216" deep, so I suspect your COL was shorter.
How old is your Rossi? Do you like the carbine? I handled a new one at a local shop recently and felt it would be a good buy.
