.
My son wanted to do shooting sports in 4H, so of course I eagerly agreed.
Turns out the guy doing most of the teaching was a city police officer in our small town, and he is ALSO the FFL who has a home-based dealership he started for fellow officers, but extended to the community, because he strongly feels that ALL honest citizens should be well-armed. He and I became friends and he'd allow me to order whatever I wanted from wholesalers and have the stuff shipped to him, and then when it arrived he'd call me and do the background check and transfer - at no charge...
Anyway, I would show up when they had actual shoots (at the city police range where they had targets and also a 'shoot-house' and - a few junk cars...!
The kids didn't get to use the 'shoot-house' but they DID get to shoot LOTS of rounds at the cars - everything from 22 LR to 30-06 and 12 gauge shot and slugs.
I never thought I'd see a cop cheerfully helping kids shoot up old cars.
It kinda made me feel the same way when I see a big ol' American Flag flying...!

Excellent. I used to take the State Police cadet class to a junkyard to demonstrate the difference between Cover and Concealment, including various types of walls.
