A guy was at the show this weekend walking around two Marlin 336's. They were both presafety, pistol grip carbines and they looked absolutely new! One was a 30-30 and the other was a 35. He wanted $300 each. I really only do straight grips, but these guns were cherry.
I couldn't get them due to flat pockets. Oh well

I would have had a hard time walking away from the 35, but like you say, my wallet wouldn't have cooperated either.
I hate it when that happens! Flat-pocket-itis is a horrible affliction for a levergunner!!!
Glad to see I'm not the only member here with a foundness for straight grip stocks. To me - and meant as no offsense to others - a lever on a pistol grip stock just doesn't look right!
