Greyhound Bus and gun carrying...

Post by AJMD429 »

Evidently they DO "allow guns across state lines" - I was told NO firearms were allowed.

But this courageous soul had his brother slain by someone who was getting off a Greyhound bus and DID have a gun...

He's now pushing Greyhound to prohibit firearms:

If you read the article, the irony is that the dude who was shot and killed was attempting an armed robbery of the victim, who was the one getting off the bus. So I guess he wants the armed robbers to have a little safer work environment...

I remember years ago when I was a kid and didn’t have a drivers license I d take the bus out to the country to go rabbit hunting. My gun was all folded up in a back pack and I thought nobody knew what I was doing until one day in the way back home the bus driver quietly asked me if I got any rabbits.I told him I did and asked if he wanted a couple which he gladly took and from that day on whenever that driver was on I didn’t have to pay any bus fare. Those sure were better times than today

last time I took the Greyhound I was surprised when they had a person screening and he asked if I had a knife and I said no. I had a fairly expensive pocket knife. Then at each stop they searched random people getting back on the bus. In Vegas, cops came on board and searched a kid and found a pipe which they destroyed. They gave everyone the third degree. I got worried and somewhere in Wyoming I was able to buy stamps and send the knife back to myself in California, because I was afraid I lose it and my cross-country ticket.

in previous years I had never encountered any searches or screenings. They even smelled alcohol on one woman's breath and wouldn't let her on. Before that there were bars in some bus stations and you could drink on your layovers. But it could easily ruin your trip if they catch you with something.

Wow! Now that's a truly American story, isn't it? I wonder how they figure on funding this new D'Anthony Reeves foundation? Donations collected from folks getting off the bus?

Now they will probably start having people boarding light rail be frisked or something (due to the North Carolina stabbing), and that will clealry harass the innocents and potential victims, but not likely help stop bad things.
