... using a receiver-sighted 336A in .35 Remington for antelope. Hey, if the archers and muzzleloaders can get it done, why not the dear old .35 Remington? Anyone here take an antelope with this caliber?
I just looked up the ballistics for the Hornady 200-grain FTX in the .35. At 2200 fps at the muzzle, it is 3.8 inches high at 100 yards and dead on at 200. The .35 might be less of a handicap than first imagined.

Most of the older guns will get the job done. They did for years. Gunwriters have not always done shooters a service, especially when writing about the latest and greatest.

World Record Bighorn was taken with a .30-30 around 1910 if I remember correctly. The shot was around 500 yards I believe. The story was published by Safari Club International back in the 1980's.

Not an antelope but have taken many whitetails with a peep sighted 30-30 up to almost 200 yds...I can't see that you'd have a problem...

Sounds like you're good to go, in fact more than good, it's more than capable! Just few years ago, Doug Turnbull took a Rocky Mountain Bighorn with his custom 86. I forget the details, but i read the article. Guessing at near 300yds, with the 375 Turnbull cartridge.
In Whelen's article, Only Accurate Rifles are Interesting", he tells in lotta details, of his hunt in B.C., that the story "Red Letter Days in British Columbia", that after being there a while he found his Mod 94 30-30 way more useful than his Mod 95 in 40-72! He took vast majority of all his game with the 30-30, and he said very successfully, and most all with one shot and many at long range, sheep, goats and mule deer!
Im sure that ftx bullet takes the 35Rem way out there just as it does the 30-30!

Well, if my 1907 model 1894 32-40 can take a nice buck a 35 REM that is way more capable will not have any problem. That 32-40 load was 18 grains of IMR 4198 with a 170 grain jacketed bullet going 1470. The brass was reformed from 30-30 cases.

Ooh! A .32-40. We just don’t hardly see or hear of this chambering that was so popular in the late 1800s in the field and on the target range.

Well ... it's probably because I am an old f.art .. but to me the old nearly forgotten calibers are more interesting than the newest latest greatest flat-shooting whiz bang calibers. I ain't saying they are better. I am saying they work if you do your part, and they interest me more. But then again, I liked the .348 Winchester and could never figure why it wasn't more popular.
