I was asked to….

Post by Wolfshead »

I was asked to post some of my leatherwork.
I’m a retired Physical Education teacher and Football Coach.
I’ve been retired for going on eight years now and needed something to pass my time with, so I started to make some things.

Here are a few pics as requested.
Thank you for looking!

I agree! I really like the basketweave pattern on that knife sheath. It makes me think of woven strips of birch bark.
And who doesn’t love a Stormy Kromer? 8)

Wow! Impressive work!

I make a few leather items too. Great hobby for making your own gear and forgetting about work for a while.

I want to try a butt cuff for a Winchester Trapper next.

When I did my first butt cuff, I wrapped my stock with plastic wrap and then with that blue painters tape.
Then I carefully cut it off with some scissors from the underneath side of the stock.
I trimmed that to the size I wanted and made a card-stock pattern off of that.

Good idea. Thanks!

I am thinking about placing a small pouch with a snap down flap on the butt cuff to hold 5 or 6 rounds instead of the cartridge loops.

I've found that making a pattern or template is about 50% of any leather project.

I've slapped together more than a few holsters, sheaths and belts, but nothing to match your work. Nice stuff!

I agree 100%.
I sometimes use an old cardboard box to make some patterns. The cardboard mimics the thickness of the leather, and helps to prevent making it too small.
