Remington ? Air rifle.
My little Norica Thor gas ram has lost power and required urgent parts replacement, so I decided to replace it with the Remington Pest Controller, I chose .22 even though my preference is .177 as my old fingers are too slow getting those little .177 pellets in the breech.
So far I'm pleased and impressed with the new Remington it is just under 12 foot pounds (UK law) I have tried it with Bisley pest control hollow points 18.21 gr and it is very accurate and certainly a good hard hitting vermin pellet, I am now trying out some RWS Hobby flathead pellets 11.9 gr. they too are accurate and are a little bit faster. Neither the hollow points or the flatheads penetrate hard wood as much as a few Milbro TR roundhead pellets I tried that were 14.3 gr. I've not had a chance to try the Remington on Squirrels yet but it completely smashes Wood pigeons.

John, look at the H&N line of pellets. I love their Baracuda Hunter Extreme in .177. The Grey rats don't get but a few yards before the grim reaper calls them home.
I REALLY want an Edgun Leshi 2 (edgunwest.com) in .25 but I just can't bring myself to spend $2000+ for an air rifle.

I like the RWS pointed pellets for hunting - great penetration with a 22.

It's a handsome air rifle John. Any idea who builds it? Harder to find the wood-stocked version here these days.

Bill I believe the action is a XS19 from China, I have seen some pretty awful guns come out of China but they seem to have built this one right. I don't know what Remington has to do with production hence theBill in Oregon wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 6:39 am It's a handsome air rifle John. Any idea who builds it? Re: Remington ? Air rifle.
I have a RWS 350 magnum, it's a beast weighs about 8lb and cocking effort is 45 lbs. I have the usual Crossman pellets and wally world also had some Ruger 17gr on the shelf. One of the local gun shops had the H&N pellet assortment and I grabbed it. very interesting to shoot different ones. Momma was throwing out a old aluminum double boiler which is pretty heavy. from 20 yards none of the soft lead pellets would go thru the bottom just a dent. I tried the 16 grain Hornets and it now looks like Swiss cheese. They are expensive but if I really have to kill something bigger than a Squirrel they are what I will use. I use the heaviest pellets I can buy for my air rifle as I've found they have better knockdown power, but also hold tighter groups at longer distance. They lose a little velocity out of the muzzle, but make up for it down range.

Very nice John.
I recently picked up a 77 in 17 and it's fantastic.
Been using some jsb 10.something grain pellets and it does the business with farm pests.

Hi John -
I know what you mean about little projectiles. I went to shoot one of my BB pistols in my basement the other day, and darn those things are hard to pick up!
Happy to hear it is a winner!

I'm inclined to agree - heavier pellets seem to be both more accurate and penetrate better.I use the heaviest pellets I can buy for my air rifle as I've found they have better knockdown power, but also hold tighter groups at longer distance. John, some of the BAM/Xisico air rifles are very much worth owning. The notorious Fast Deer, not so much!

Bill, I've not heard of the Bam/xisico but they certainly look interesting
I have a few 21.14gr Barracuda pellets my son gave me but haven't tried them yet, I agree that heavy pellets have more clout but UK law limits air rifles to only 12 foot pounds at the muzzle so you're lucky if you can get 11.6 foot pounds, that's the only reason I'm experimenting with lightweight pellets, I must admit so far I'm more impressed with the moderately heavy Bisley pest control hollow points, I haven't had a chance yet to see what the lightweight Hobby flathead pellets are like on vermin. I haven't used a .22 air rifle in years, always preferred .177.
