Here We Go Again

Post by jeepnik »

Well, most of you have heard that L.A. is in the throes of riots again. Ignoring all the political rhetoric it's concerning. Now you likely all know that I usually carry a .410 Mossberg 500 in my Jeep and a 20 ga Franchi in my Tacoma. I also usually have my primary carry and my little .22 mag NAA as a backup.

Today my wife and I went to a neighboring county for the day. And during that time the stuff hit the air mover in my little town. But I am nothing if not a bit paranoid. So I upgraded today.

Turned out I had to take a back way into town as the "individuals" gathered where the freeway ends in town (my normal route). Wife was a bit spooked and actually checked her

and spare mags.
Oh yea, I did have this as always.

I did something similar.
I put my little Ruger EC9 in my computer bag along with some spare mags.
Put the compact M&P 9mm away and got the Commander out.
I don't get near anywhere near large metropolitan areas but there are two cities in my
my territories that are mostly low income and can be pretty sketchy.
I always schedule inspections in those areas early. before the natives are up.

That's every day working stuff.
I have a Mossberg Shockwave in my F-150 and planning on adding a carbine as well.
Haven't decided what yet, but the Mini 14 is at the top of my list right now.

.
I realized I have had four AMT firearms - a 'Government' 1911, a 'Backup' in 380, and a 'Lightning' and 'Hunter' in 22 LR (clones of the Ruger Mk2 pistol and 10/22, respectively).

I agree with keeping your 'car kit' upgraded when times show more risk present, for sure...

Never leave home without your EDC and a spare mag or two.
In this communist state of WA it's going to get tricky in May of 2027.
Carry Permits only after qualifying for a gun purchase permit which includes class time and live fire time.
If they don't change the rules, I can renew 90 days before my current "permission slip" expires and should be good until I'm 80, and hopefully still around.

Having one of the short shotguns like the Shockwave and your EDC gun will suffice in most cases. An AR pistol will give you more rounds and distance. Neither is wrong, just different tools. Remember, you're also driving a 3000lb battering ram, so that long skinny pedal on the right is your best friend. :D

I'd also say that the smaller cars need to stay home this weekend and all driving be done with the larger vehicles if you have them. Easier to jump curbs to go around obstacles or go through said obstacles. Having some kind of 'get home' bag should be with you, too.

Hopefully nothing serious will occur this weekend, but it's better to be prepared than not. I"ve never felt bad about being prepared.

I've mentioned before that long ago I was taught to "just drive and don't stop". Good advice in a country with terrorist that didn't like American military and just as good advice today with our domestic terrorists.
