Bullet lube

Post by Irishtexan »

I started casting bullets in 1972 for my ruger Blackhawk in 357, and soon after started working on a bullet lube that worked better than store bought.
Well fast forward 30 years and one day while cleaning up my reloading room I discovered all my left over homemade bullet lubes and decided to just mix them all together to save space and see what I would come up with, well believe it or not I came up with the best lube I have ever used, trouble is I can't remember what all I put in it.
Is there a place I can send a sample off to to see what all I have in it and amounts of each, thanks for any input.

I don't know of a place, but I'd think there would be someone that would be able to do such an analysis.

What makes this the best lube you've used? Better accuracy? Less leading? Easier cleaning?

This lube is easy to use in my sizer works cold or hot, used it in pistols that lead pretty bad with no leading, was able to use softer lead with no leading, accuracy was good, clean up was easy, ran a dry patch down the barrel and barrel was clean and shinny.
Used it in a 10 inch T/C barrel that leaded with no problems cleaning or leading.
Pushed velocity up a bit again with no leading, I was really surprised it worked so well.
Worked in my Ruger Vaquero with black powder made clean up was easy.
Didn't get a chance to try it in my 1885 high wall in 40/65 but it shot good with SPG lube.
Ill try a internet search and see if I can find some place to send some for results, thanks again.

Sounds like a project for a high school or local collage advanced chemistry class.
