Not much going on here, temperature should hit 56f so a pleasant wood walk may be in order.
Listening to you guys talking about your motorbikes has got me really envious as I enjoyed my biker years, I looked at the prices of some of the bikes I had back in the 60s and wow they are out of my price range the modern bikes don't hold so much attraction to me and again on my pension a bit on the expensive side maybe I'll find a complete junker that nobody wants and spend a fortune getting it running.

Well I think the prize for winning pg.286 ought to be a nice classic British bike of your choosing old buddy!
I'm sure Walt has something in the back of his garage.
I remember when I was a kid seeing those bikes around. We don't anymore. Most are worth too much to ride any great amount now. Heck.....even so.e of the Japanese bikes of my youth are getting collectible. Whodathunkit?
Gonna get more snow this weekend. I'm really getting tired of it now. We are in that time if year where you can't really do anything.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
My wife and I are headed out in a few minutes to recertify our CCW licenses. I just hope that all the suggestions I've made to control her flinch stick with her throughout the practical part. The class instructor is a woman and I kinda doubt that she would allow my wife to fail the class in any case.
Back before Maine was constitutional carry, we had a permit system too. There was a few pages of questions to fill out, but not one of them was in reference to anything firearm related. There was no qualification of any kind either. It was only a background type check.
I always forget that other states take it a lot more serious.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
She did just fine. The class instructor gave her some tips which were evidently helpful. Spouses' suggestions often don't carry as much weight as someone else's, especially another woman's. She ended up with a 92% score with her Springfield Armory .45ACP. The most important factor is shooting more often....can't practice just once a year or two.
That's great news Walt!
Yeah, it's hard to make the time. Especially if you can't shoot right outside your door. We used to be much better about getting Kristy out. She's put probably close to 2k rounds through her J frame, but hasn't shot in quite a while now.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
Well done to your Missus Walt, I'm always happy to hear about females who shoot even if they nearly always outshoot me...
I took a walk down by the lake with my .410 but all I shot was a Crow that stupidly flew towards me, I ain't seen a Squirrel for sometime I think my son decimated them when he was a full time Squirrel trapper up here

Glad you got out GK.
Walts carry permit renewal reminded me to check mine. It ran out last October.
Ooopsie!
Guess I'll have to go get a renewal form Monday.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
How often do you need to renew, Jay? Here a CCW is normally good for four years but a refresher is required at the two year mark. Then at the end of the four years a regular class and practical shoot are required, just as if one were starting for the first time.
My shooting partner is a veteran and he tells me that his license is good for five years.
GK, how are things going since you moved to your new location?
They are good for 4 years. You just go to the local PD and they give you a renewal form to fill out. It's 20 bucks. Basically just a background check.
I think for your first one you have to take a class, but you can do it online. Didn't have to at all when I got mine.
Matter of fact, my dad went and got my first one for me. It was dated 3 days BEFORE my 18th birthday. We didn't even have our picture on them till a few years ago. It was just a piece of paper.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
Interesting to hear about CCW since most handguns were banned over here.
Walt, my move up here was the best thing I have done in a long time, I would have moved here years ago but I had a lady friend who would not move from her home on the South coast.
The two 200 year-old cottages where I and my son and his wife now live.

Glad you got to somewhere better for you GK. I can imagine it makes all the difference in quality of life.
Of course, I'm still at work, so my quality of life is fairly poor.
Good news is I'm headed home in an hour. Just one more day to get through and I'll be good for a few days.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
That's really quaint, GK. Except for the TV dish and the electric wires I'm sure it looks just like it did 200 years ago. I'm glad you're happy with your move.
Thanks Walt, quaint is right you have to put up with doors for average height people of 1790 and no double glazing... . My son's cottage has an extension on the back and is a lot more modern inside than mine but being single and a bit of a minimalist my one bedroom suits me ok as the 5000 acres of hunting are what I really like, even if I can't find enough Squirrels

5k acres! Holy smokes! That's awesome GK! You got me beat when it comes to room to roam. I can barely muster 1400 acres with ours and our friends property.
I'm really happy for you, as I know that's what gives you the most pleasure. The simple living space sounds good to me, also.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
That's impressive GK!
In the picture, it appears to be slightly larger than my shack in Brighton.
And my house.......and my folks... and my kids places....all put together.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
Walt the cottage has oil fired central heating but a log burner with free firewood is my main source of heating, I only use the central heating first thing in the morning, my son is a woodman on the estate and keeps me supplied and the estate owner put a brand new log burner in when I moved in
Jay, the Hall is used for fancy weddings and vacation accommodation the owner only uses one wing of the hall to live in, there are other vacation cottages near me and the park and gardens are about 500 acres, the rest of the estate is woodland and farmland, the 35 acre lake is for private fishing.

Jay believe it or not these are illegal in Britain but I saw them on sale mail order and couldn't resist...
The genuine German made ones from the 1940s are selling in the US at $175 mine is a Chinese copy for a couple of bucks..... I'll try to use it safely and keep it locked up when not in use...

Haha well I hope you can keep yourself out of trouble buddy. Living the free life with all that land to roam has made a "free thinker" out of you!
We all know that's a dangerous thing in today's world.
Well, full disclosure, I got some outlawing in me too.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
You can't help but be an outlaw in Britain even posting something on Facebook can get you arrested
Comrade Starmer our prime minister is a wannabe dictator, a heck of a lot of Brits want president Trump to take him down with the rest of the swamp. Vance has already exposed Starmer on freedom of speech.

Well old buddy, while I have much less land, I at least can offer a little more freedom at my shack in Brighton. If you need a little vacation, it's there anytime.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
I would swap anywhere in Britain for the freedom you enjoy. Living over here is like being a three year old with a domineering mother who insists on wrapping you in cotton wool, of course our biggest problem is diversity, now we have to tolerate third world cultures and all that BS but they are not expected to tolerate ours, crime is out of control and the police only seem to be interested in "hurty words" .

I hear that! While nowhere near as bad here, it's a lot worse than it was.
Haha love the meme!
Headed to camp to check the road and general conditions. I have to hit it just right to get the tractor out and want to get an idea of where we are.
I'll try and get a couple pics.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
Had a nice afternoon at camp. I couldn't believe how little snow there was. A couple weeks ago we needed the sled to get in. Needed snowshoes to get around in the woods.
There was a fair amount of snow in the road but the 4 wheeler did better than I thought it would. Once we got farther in I was surprised how little snow was in the woods. The dooryard is clearing up, but I had plowed it with the tractor earlier this winter.
We shot some .22s for awhile. Then we went inside, had a nice drink of bourbon and talked about projects we have to do this year.
I'm thinking maybe next week I'll be able to go up and take my spring walkabout. Usually bring my twig stove along and boil up on the trail. It's always a good day.

The Camp is looking good and it's survived the winter without a scratch what were you shooting the .22s out of
It's been nice and sunny here but I had chores to do

Thanks buddy! It's the third Maine winter it's survived unscathed. It's holding up very well. We tried to insure it was overbuilt and required little to no maintenance.
Dad has been carrying the little High Standard Sentinel on our last few camp excursions. I had my Colt Python, but I also had brought my Chiappa Little Badger. It's very light and easy to carry along. Plus, I thought maybe we'd shoot it a little.
When I get out and walk around the lot, I'll take some more pictures. I usually bring a Winchester along, but maybe I'll bring the Little Badger again. I'll see what kind of mood I'm in.

Thanks Walt. It's a cool place to hang out. Best part is, it's not far away. I can run up for just a couple hours if I want. Or stay for the week.
If you ever get up to Maine, you are welcome to come on up.
