Anyone shoot this ammo?
Picked up the new Charter Arms Bulldog Classic yesterday, and the shop owner gave me a decent deal on this partial box of PMC .44 Special ammo so I bought it, although skeptical of the 240-grain JHP out of a 3-inch barrel. Having trouble finding original factory specs on it -- and no longer have my back issues of Gun Digest, etc. Anyone here ever shoot this particular load? How did it perform? How was recoil?

Re: Anyone shoot this ammo?
Do you have a .44 rifle? Pop one through it and see how it compares. Or .44 Magnum sixgun?

I remember back in the 90s buying a couple boxes of the PMC 44 mags. Nothing wrong with it.
Can't say I've seen it since.

.
I've shot a few hundred rounds of PMC 44 Special mostly through my CA Bulldog, with no issues. Never really 'tested' it for accuracy or penetration but it hits the gongs and I assume would make an impression on an antisocial individual bent on doing harm.
I've shot PMC in other cartridges and no problems either.

Re: Anyone shoot this ammo?
I've shot lots of PMC in other calibers, and I have a box or two of their .44 Magnum 250gr TCSP that I kept in my .44 Wrangler when I lived out West and went to the woods. PMC makes quality ammo, but I agree, a 240gr JHP from a 3" barrel probably isn't going to expand much. But, it's a nice, heavy chunk of lead when it hits.

PMC brass is good durable stuff for reloading too.

I bought several boxes a few years ago and down to the last partial box. It's been extremely accurate from every revolver I''s fired with it.

Re: Anyone shoot this ammo?
Thanks fellas. I have shot a lot of PMC in 9mm and .45 ACP and .223. I like the brass. Couldn't find any trace of a 240-grain JHP load in .44 Special, just the 180, but glad to hear it has shot well for others.
Re: Anyone shoot this ammo?
If they're not likely to expand anyways, "cowboy action" loads might be advisable.....

H.S.M. brand in both special and russian are often in-stock at bass-pro/cabela's. Running all of the monthly bills through their (b-p/cabela's) "club" m/c or visa nets enough points to buy h.s.m. in .44 & .45 at least every other month.....free shipping as well.
Many say nothing is really for free but the cabela's points scheme is as close as it gets as long as you pays your balance each month and don't incur a.p.r. usury.

I always liked the Winchester silver tip for my (special - you know the one)44 special but again I haven't seen those in a coons age either!
As for handloaded with jacketed the Remington 240 semi jacket was a favorite! Again unobtainium now...

Re: Anyone shoot this ammo?
I would be very surprised if they will expand reliably at 700 or so fps.

As for accuracy and recoil, you know how to find out
