Rossi 92 loading gate
I bought a new Rossi in 44 mag, runs great shoots good too! Upon taking it down to clean it I noted the loading gate itself is too long and doesn’t fully seal the opening. I’m gonna file the spring portion as per Steve’s video but looking for advice on working on the gate end portion.

Re: Rossi 92 loading gate
Ok I took out the loading gate and slimmed down the “spring area” on the gate I also used some 10,000 grit 3M wet/oil sharpening paper and smoothed off the end of the gate….it fits nicely now. But not much difference in ease of loading. I also used my “Montgomery Wards” brand Dremel tool with a felt bob a and polishing rouge to soften the sharp edge of the loading port, yes I’ve had said dremel for about 45 years….remember when stuff used to last for years
I don’t really want to thin the spring more, I may take off a couple coils on the mag spring and polish the end of the loading port some more, it still bites your finger when pushing the last round in! At least it’s not drawing blood anymore! I’ll post some pics when I take it apart to work on it some more. We lost power for awhile and had a couple tornadoes so I didn’t get much done. Started the day with a high of 74 dropped 15 degrees in about 10 minutes and finished of the day with 32 degrees and snow

Re: Rossi 92 loading gate
I did the same with my 16" 357 Magnum. I ended up working on that spring 3 times to get it right. I also did the loading port, replaced the mag follower, and shortened the mag spring. After all that it was still harder to load ammo than it should be. I got to looking around and noticed these marks on inside of receiver right where the reciever funnels into the mag tube. By opening the action just a hair(enough to see down inside the reciever) while loading a cartridge and saw that my 357 rounds were nose diving to the left side right where those marks were. The bullet nose was getting hung up right where those marks were. I tore it down again and with a felt bob and some polishing compound I smoothed out the rough spots where the marks were. Now the ammo feeds thru the gate and into the mag tube slick as snot. Good luck with yours

I have a .45 Colt that I sent to Steve that I still use and two others I wish I had sent but were newer (.44 and .357 Mag) and I am not that good.
