Round two
Also not a joke.
They are saying this cold/flu season has been one of the worst in years. And they aren't kidding.
I attended a trade show in late January in Las Vegas, along with apparently half the darn country (it was so crowded), and a couple days after I got home I got sick. Tested twice and it wasn't COVID. I think it was "Flu A" and it was the worst flu I've had in years... or maybe ever. First time in 7 years that I did not make my daily step count. 3 solid days in bed.
Well, I thought I was largely over it, other than lingering cough and fatigue. Went to a trade show a couple weeks ago and whamo, got sick again late last week. Spend most of the weekend in bed again. This time Mrs. YK wasn't taking no for an answer so I went in to see my doctor Monday.
Walking pneumonia. Doctor chewed me a new one, saying had I waited a couple-few more days it may have gone to full-blown pneumonia and a hospital stay. Especially with my weakened immune system (no spleen). Got home and caught round two on the chewing out (on top of round two of being sick) from SWMBO. She was none-too pleased nor sympathetic, since she had home-diagnosed me over the weekend.
I think she is in cahoots with my doctor.
Be cautious out there. Though I am not looking forward to spring allergies, I am looking forward to getting out of winter for good. And I love colder weather (not "cold", but what we consider "cold" in the south).

Re: Round two
Hope you feel better soon. Nothing worse than being sick.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
Re: Round two
My oldest son got whacked very hard with the flu this year. My wife and I have been keeping our heads down, and nothing has hit us as yet. I think I heard the annual flu shot wasn't effective; they guessed the wrong strains to include.

Re: Round two
Last three years I have missed the flu shots but have stayed well away from people, the doctors over here are still pushing COVID shots together with flu jabs I don't trust either anymore.
Hope you get well soon Jay.

Jay, hope you catch a break and your lungs return to normal. Don't come visiting in West Texas or Southern New Mexico, though. We are expecting 2025 dust storms No. 16 today, No. 17 tomorrow and No. 18 Tuesday -- nasty, howling mixtures of every dust particle and allergen known to man.

Re: Round two
I've had the flu shots, the shingles shots, the covid shots and the pneumonia shots, therefore I shouldn't get sick, right?
But I did.
My granddaughter caught it from somewhere and she never leaves the house, I caught it from her and was very sick for about 10 days or so. Then just as I was getting better I caught round two and I ended up being really sick for a whole month. I went to the ER and they varafied that I had the flu and told me to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen alternating every four hours. Well I'm not supposed to take Ibuprofen so I just tuffed it out.
I almost died from Pneumonia while in the hospital several years ago and it was worse but this was pretty bad.

I hope You feel better Soon! We are around our Four Grandkids all the Time, All winter they brought every thing Home from School . A never end revolving door of sickness. I agree this year has been bad. A month ago I did nothing for days but kept the fire in the stove going and sleep on the couch. I never get a flu shot, I got it once years ago and got deathly sick . The winter weather here is finally broken with temps We haven't had since last October. Stay Strong.!
I did get the two part pneumonia shot several years ago at the insistence of My Doctor.

Hope you get better and miss the allergy season. I generally get it in March, April or May.

.
Stock up on sambucol elixir and take it when exposed, and if you still manage to get sick (likely you won't) triple the dose.
The sambucol syrup is 'ok' but it takes more to work, and it is sickeningly sweet.
The gummies aren't stable and not much good.
Beware "Elderberry Cough Syrup" that doesn't have sambucol in it - it is just elderberry FLAVORED cough syrup.
Tamiflu was removed from the market most places after their approval data was found to be fraudulent, but the US had a bunch of nursing home and military government contracts that would raise a big stink if the drug were admitted to be useless (which it is), so it is still marketed in the US, and doctors still prescribe it. In some studies it did worse than placebo.
Although azithromycin is mostly prescribed for 'bronchitis' of bacterial ('atypical') origin, and probably often prescribed for VIRUSES of various sorts just because patients get mad if you don't give them something that is a prescription ("I waited for two hours at this clinic and you're just telling me to take over-the-counter stuff...!!!"), it has recently been demostrated to have some potential effect against Influenza A. Pretty odd, but then again it seemed to ameliorate some of the Covid-19 symptoms as well, perhaps due to working at the ribosomal level as that class of antibiotics does, or perhaps via some separate molecular effect that inhibits viral entry into the cell.

Tamiflu - https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4375804/
Azithromycin - https://www.acibademhealthpoint.com/azi ... acy-usage/
Remember that the physical REMOVAL of the virus and infected mucus is helpful, so the steamy showers, STEAM vaporizer (cool-mist ones just grow mold and don't open sinuses, plus they don't have the little 'well' for medication volatilization), saline nasal spray or rinse or Netti pot, and if it gets into the chest then the guaifenesin products (Mucinex, Robitussin) may help. I'm a fan of Alkalol as a nasal rinse/spray and it seemed to prevent Covid in my hospital-worker patients (the so-called 'vaccine' sure didn't help them stay healthy - in fact it killed four or five of them...

I spent the first three days of this week in bed. Flu type A as well. I was diagnosed on Tuesday and I’m still pretty weak. Stayed up most of the day today though. It was rough

My wife is a team lead/scheduler for one of the big hospital systems here and the numbers of people calling in about the flu is incredibly high. Take care of yourselves, guys.

Re: Round two
The latest flu seems to be a chest cold or flu, and those who I know got it had breathing difficulties, and coughing. My daughter's family all got it, and granddaughter's turned into a much worse case. She ended up in emergency when she got dehydrated by not being able to keep food/water down. Took her almost two weeks to kick it. Luckily she's 18 and healthy. I lost an old friend last weekend who got some flu early this year, and never seemed to fully recover.
