Browning 1886 Parts

Post by 1972RedNeck »

I am looking for a Browning 1886 hammer and trigger for my new Winchester 1886. Midwest Gun Works is sold out. Anyone know where I could find one of each?

You might check Numrich and Jack First

Nothing on the site, but I sent them an email so we'll see what they can come up with.

You could also try Homestead Parts https://homesteadparts.com/shop/
or
Old Arms of Idaho https://oldarmsofidaho.com/

Original 1886 parts may work, but I have no idea. May be worth the research.

Midwest Gun Parts has been sold out of both the hammer and trigger for quite a few years now. Back in around 2015 or thereabouts, they still had them in stock and I grabbed one of each for converting a new production 1886 to the original lockwork. Regret now not having bought a couple more for other projects at that time, but then again, never thought they'd be sold out so quickly not long afterwards....

Turnbull does lockwork conversions on both new production 86s and 92s. From what I understand they rework the hammer that comes in the rifle and return it to the original style. I don't know if this is true or not but maybe other members here do. Check with Turnbull to see what the story is. If they do that kind of work, maybe they would take your hammer and rework it.

Not sure if a Pedersoli or Chiappa hammer would work in a new production Miroku Winchester since they all probably are metric pattern.

First time I'd ever heard of Old Arms of Idaho. Man what a great resource, I spent long time on it earlier, been trying find an original tang sight for a Rem 12c 22 rifle for a good friend. I didn't find it yet, but I barely scratched what all they have. I'm just gonna give him their number so he can call. Great place, thanks!

I used photos from the internet to map it and cut my own half cock notch and cut the strut to eliminate the rebound. I always meant to tig the strut to make it a tad longer as that would make the hammer rest tighter against the firing pin but I never did. Filled the tang with an epoxy inlay.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Turnbull does the conversion, they might be a source of parts.
