You think you are a real hog killer?

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

My friend big Dave Wasson has us all beat.

He uses a MKIV Ruger .22 pistol and he has shot well over 250 of them.

Here’s a photo of today’s kills.

As much as I enjoy killing them, I am glad they are not as big a problem for us as they are in many states

Does his method involve a ghillie suit? Inquiring minds would like to know!

Big Dave works at a grain elevator. There’s an 85 foot long auger pit and they get down into it to feast on grain. The smaller ones can’t generally get out so he walks up and pops them with the .22

That'll do the job. I killed 250 pound hogs with my Single Six. We raised 'em and slaughtered them. Headshots done right end it all.

That'll work. At the elevator back home when I was a kid they used a cut down Auto 5 to clear out the rats from the auger pit. Sometimes they let me go after them with a .22. Great sport for a kid. The local high school toughs used hockey sticks.

.
We found out that it helped us eat to shoot them so they didn't get into the garden, but we ALSO realized that the meat was good too...!

Those would be nice eating size. Probably no time to deal with that on the job though

Killed this one with my Browning 86, 4570 a few years ago. This one must have been a domestic hog that got loose or something.
