Speaking of old trucks
I have been a Snap-on Tools customer for going on 37 years. Last year about this time I submitted photos of my 59 Chevy Apache for consideration in their 2025 calendar. Well what do you know, they found a spot for me in March. Doesn't quite make us even, but it helps.

Sweet truck Ted. Well done!

Re: Speaking of old trucks
That is a cool looking truck, I'd like see a good Pic of it! Old trucks was my way life. A 69 Ford was my first love, my dad bought new. It was same color scheme as yours but the blue was more a royal blue. My first vehicle was a lightly used 75 Dodge 2W, about time I graduated HS in 77. The Famous 318! Then in 80, I'd changed jobs and making good money, I bought a barely used 78 F150, tanked out, decked out, powered out, the most awesome truck in the county! I mean a Raw Dog in every way! That Horse was rode hard and long, and everywhere it could go almost anywhere, 351 Cleveland, customed out under hood, custom ordered positive trac front and rear, short bed, J. Daniel's driving it, and here, old mining, strip mining, and logging roads, it's shame what I put such a fine truck thru, and Thank God for His Unmerited Grace!!! By 83 it's about ready for an overhaul, and I'd come to my senses for most part. I traded it for another 78 Ford 4w, but longbed Explorer Package and the best engine ever made the Ford 300 6cyl. Traded it for my first ever new truck, a 87 F150 with that same Ford 300 6cyl longbed. That truck gained fame and well known as "Old Rebel", yes it was gray! I kept it until I finally sold it to guy working for me, for $250, just because I'd just put new tires on it, otherwise I'd gladly given it to this fine younger man in bad need of a vehicle, I believe 2012. But I'd acquired along way a new 1996 and then 2002 Dodge, for highway use only, and these where fine trucks that saw me thru retirement in 2016, and I sold the 02 my last truck to a neighbor 2 years ago. Until this point all I ever drove was a truck, kept my wife a good car or suv, but now I sure need another truck!

Re: Speaking of old trucks
I remember riding in one just like that, same color and all, as my friend's dad got one new one. The Apache was considered "too pretty to use as a work truck" and my friend's dad never put anything more than a shovel or bag of mulch in the bed. He went all out and got the deluxe edition with a 283 V8 and air-conditioning. It was the very first vehicle I ever rode in with factory air. He had it decked out to the hilt with a bunch of options and it rode like a dream for the time.

Re: Speaking of old trucks
Had an old 56 Chev similar to the pic. Straight 6, Oil bath filter on top, vacuum wipers, granny gear.
Could haul a lot of wood with that old truck.

Sweet looking truck and pretty cool it made the calendar!
I learned to drive a standard on my Dad's 1957 3/4 ton Stepside Chevy. 283 V-8 with "3 on the tree." We had it around as a spare vehicle for many years. It looked nowhere near as nice as yours but I sometimes miss that old truck.

This truck also has the 283 and 3 on the tree. It's a somewhat rare model with the fleet side short bed, and the wrap around back glass.Mark in MO wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 4:55 pm Sweet looking truck and pretty cool it made the calendar!

My father bought this truck before I was old enough to drive, mid 1980's I guess. It ran, but that's about all I can say. Dad had to sit on a 5 gallon bucket to drive it home from the old farmers place just a couple miles up the road. It sat in our barn for a few years until Dad got started on the restoration, about the time I was in tech school for auto mechanics.
We rebuilt the engine, brakes, wiring, etc. Total frame off restoration. Dad did a lot of the body work, but sent it to a local body shop to fine tune the body work and do the paint work. It has been like this for about 25 years, and has been driven 3700 miles since the restoration was completed.
