Sad they had to issue a recall over this; I know many of us do try to introduce our children to firearms at a young age, but I think they are past the age of eating batteries for most of us by the time we introduce them to Red Dot optics...

Actually, I think it's more about the stupidity of consumers.

Back when I was first driving, we all had a small kit with points, a screwdriver and a book of matches. Everyone I knew could change the points in their cars on the side of the road to get their car going again. Today, they have to put a label on the battery saying, "Don't drink the batter acid." The dumbing down of the young is horrendous. Gen Z's have to be pampered about everything and it's making for a decline in the country.

I actually think it is more about the litigious society we live in. Everybody sues everyone when something doesn't work out to their advantage. Nobody accepts any accountability for their own stupid decisions. If something goes wrong, it is ALWAYS someone else's fault. That's why McDonalds had to put a warning on their coffee cups that the coffee may be hot. They lost a lawsuit against them by an idiot who spilled coffee on themself.

Years ago, daytime television was filled with advertisements for continuing education so that those without a job could qualify for a new one. Today, daytime television advertisements are sponsored by a handful of law firms promising a big return for suing someone, anyone, for absolutely any real or imagined harm. The message is "you don't need to work to earn your money; let us help you take someone else's." Sad.

Yep. I've heard of cases where a physician did an operation on a patient, specifically warning them (even in writing) that the procedure carried say a "1/1,000 risk of paralysis", then the patient happens to be one who gets paralysis. So they sue. The physician's record is reviewed, and his actual history is that he had three cases of paralysis out of 11,251 surgeries, so the surgery was even less risky under his care than the quoted risk. But the patient was granted big-bucks out of sympathy because they had a 'bad outcome'. Bad outcomes HAPPEN, and as long as the person went into the situation willingly, I don't see how they can blame the physician, but they often do. Women who get pregnant after a tubal ligation nearly always sue. And typically they 'win'.

We have a society that has a 'lottery' mentality - so if something bad happens, just figure out who to blame, and cash-in.
