Big & Little Brother S&W Revolvers

Post by Old No7 »

We often post images of "pairs" here, for rifles & handguns in the same caliber, and this is a variation on that theme by sharing "brothers" -- guns from the same maker.

I added a target hammer, trigger and grips to the heavy-barreled .22 (S&W Model 63-4, 5" on J frame) and it's about 85% the size of the larger Model 66-2 (6" on K frame) in .357 Mag that I just picked up. I'm changing the SS trigger to a case-colored smooth-faced one, but it needs to be fit a bit more (the hand binds for some reason), while the cased hammer I got was an easy drop-in to replace the SS one that came on it. And as you can tell -- yes, I'm partial to Altamont grips.

As for "pairs", these pair very well with my .22 & .357 Marlin leverguns.

Tight groups to all.

As i posted in another thread -- the proper number of .357's is "Just one more" -- We can expand that to say the same for what is the proper number of revolvers to have in general and it appears as if you also abide by that mantra !

Very nice pair. I really enjoy having a 22 version of the my bigger revolver. In my case it's a Single Six and a Blackhawk.

I've never had any interest in the X-frames. They're about as far away from a Perfect Packing Pistol as they can be. My shooting partner has one in .460 and although it's a great shooter, it is VERY loud even with plugs and muffs and even worse in a covered area.

Paul, you must be a glutton for punishment. I imagine that model 83 in 500 will set you back a step or two with full power loads.
