V or U notch rear?
I have a Marble's rear sight with the adjustable diamond notch piece. The U notch fits the front sight bead, but what is the purpose of the V notch?

Some people shoot better with a v notch. I think we all see things a little differently and one might be more friendly to your eye or mine.
When I was a kid we shot with a front bead and a v notch. We were taught to take a very fine bead at short range and use a larger bead as the distance increased.

Thanks.
I dread the day when I have to use aperture sights exclusively. I already see better with them. I can still do reasonable with irons though thankfully.

The V-notch works best with inverted V blades.

Re: V or U notch rear?
So you're saying if I had a knife blade front and gave it a pointed top edge, that works best with the V notch? I could see how it might make a tiny diamond as the sighting picture.
