Cimarron 1866 32-20

This Cimarron 1866 32-20 short rifle followed me home from the gunshow yesterday. It should make a fun plinker.

I used to have a Uberti SRC 66 in .22M but I have wanted a .32/20 for along time sadly not very often found over here, congratulations and let us know how it shoots

The .32-20 is one of my all time favorites! First Winchester I ever bought is a Model 92 in .32WCF and also the cartridge that got me into handloading. No one around here had even heard of it, except one guy at a local shop that had one box of ammo for it. I burnt through that first 50 rounds in a matter of minutes and I was hooked.

32-20 is definitely a 'classic' that has no equal.

A 327 Fed Mag or 32 H&R are kind of the same thing, but the tapered cases of 32-20 feed better.

Plus, the folks often buying the 'modern equivalents' try to make them into 357 Mags, which is like trying to turn a 30-30 into a 45-70...

Sweet! I have a Marlin 1894CL in 32-20 and it is a sweet round for sure. I shoot XTPs for coyotes, and 115gr cast from an Arsenal mould for everything else.

I had a Marlin 1894CL .32-20 also. I had Regan Nonneman put a full length magazine on it.

Nice plinker for sure! I load a commercial cast 115 grain cast bullet (make sure to get them with the crimp groove) over 4 grains of Unique.
I used my 1892 Winchester carbine with that load to win several matches of Cowboy Pistol caliber silhouette, though it would only knock the Rams
over at 100 yds if you hit them high.
Have fun wringing it out.

That is the same load I use in my revolvers with a 311008 bullet. I should have shot it today, but got busy with other things and it was dark before I knew it.

The 100gr XTP is a great bullet. I have used it a lot in .32 magnum and .327s. I also have a couple of HP bullet molds I will have to try in it.

I was always a 32 magnum shooter, but do have a couple 32-20 handguns. I have shot them in carbines just never have owned one. There are 1000 unopened Starline 32-20 brass on the table in my shop. They were backorderable this summer so I put in my order just in case I needed them, I also use them to make .310 cadet and a short 7.62 Nagant.

A lot of the older 32-20s I see here have very rough bores from Black powder and corrosive priming.

A uberti 1866 has been on my list for a while, I looked at it 3 times Saturday before buying it . The price was quite reasonable and the seller even threw in a box of ammo.

I've looked into it. Very expensive quotes, and none of them seemed enthusiastic. The rim diameter on the .32-20 means a custom cylinder with specific timing needs to be made. 7 or 5 rounds instead of 8 or 6 rounds.
I still want one, though.

In 2007 Kirk D from Canada wrote about the 32-20 here. I was able that year to get a Marlin CL 32-20 . for a small round it can pack quite a punch . An XTP at 1900 fps shot from the Marlin really makes a Groundhog do flips. for normal shooting with cast it replaces a .22 easily. Enjoy that 66' it will be Fun!

I have an Uberti '60 Yellowboy carbine in .45 Colt and it's a ton of fun to shoot. The one thing I like better about the Uberti is the rear sight. It's a flip sight that you can use for 100, 200, 300 and 400 yds just by flipping it up and using the correct aim point. With my 200 grn handloads it's surprisingly good out even past 300 yds.
