Estate Sale booty!

Post by TedH »

I bought a big lot of ammo, knives, and other goodies at an estate sale. Some is common, modern ammo I'll use or share with friends. Some of it may have some collector value, which I'll have to learn more about. Some is pretty unique, but may or may not have collector value.
There are some vintage Remington and Peters 22 LR ammo. Boxes are very good shape and all are full.
There are 7 paper hull RWS slugs. Looks like Breneke type slugs, but the hulls have a picture of a large bird.
A Super X box of 12 ga slugs, but it's missing 4 rounds.
Some Black Talon 9mm ammo. Also becoming collectable.
If nothing else it'll keep me busy tinkering in the basement for a while, and will probably have some of it posted here in the classifieds.

The big bird on the shells is a capercaillie about half way between a grouse and a turkey .

Nice haul. Love the old boxes, especially the 22's. I had some Mohawk boxes that looked the same, but were brown.

Did you get that Smith pistol too?

Yes. It is pretty minty. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but it'll probably get resold too.

Nice. I like them Smiths too. I had a 4006 for a while and have regretted getting rid of it. My buddy had a 3906 that that he had, and I wasn't able to snag before he traded it off. I did shoot it a few times though and it was a joy to shoot.

.
I think most of us just HOPE that when we pass, our 'stuff' will go to someone who appreciates it.

So much winds up at gun shows in 'scrap bins' and of course for the buyer is a 'steal' but always makes me a bit sad that the original owner didn't live long enough to use it all up or whatever.

Whenever I come across a 'find' like that I try to reverently sort it out as to what I will truly use and appreciate, and the other stuff that I will hopefully be able to pass along (sell) to someone who will better appreciate it.

I saw a police auction gun they said had been through the 'system' twice per serial number trace, and it was a beautiful Winchester in 32-20 but some dude had cut it down to an 'SBR' of 10 inches or so and cut off the stock. Evidently at one of his liquor-store holdups or gang-banger drivebys he ran out of the 'strange' ammo and the gun was taken upon his arrest with a 32 S&W jammed in the chamber. That kind of thing gives me the shivvers.....
