My wife sent me a list on Amazon for Christmas

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

She told me to get “just one” of them. But the list had five things….none over$50.

How on earth can I pick just one? None are things that I would even think about getting her.

Less than $250 total for things she actually asked for? Cheap Xmas to my thinking, I'd buy all 5. The downside is that you have extra wrapping to do, and if you're anything like me it's not something I have a talent for.

Worked it to a total of $180.

I ordered all of it, but I still want to to try and see if I can surprise her with something special.

I do a lot of Christmas bags. My wrapping is atrocious. The only one worse than me is my oldest son. :D

I'll bet a gift certificate to Lush or Lululemon would please her.

Give her one on Christmas day , hide the other 4 through out the house ,so she’ll find easy enough doing her daily routine.

Anymore at our age with almost 50 years together, I just give my wife an Amazon gift card and let her choose what she wants to buy.
My attempts at surprises usually get returned.

I knew a guy that bought his girl a 10/22, he took it apart and wrapped each part individually. Then he bought a brick of 22s and wrapped 9 boxes, the 10th box he again wrapped individually. She got a huge laugh out of it! She enjoyed putting her gun together but unwrapping those 22s wasn't more than fumbling around.

Problem is that she was a single mother for so many years on a teacher’s salary. So she simply won’t spend money on herself.

I’d like to find a place that makes the old style sheepskin jackets and get her something warm like that.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend... or so the saying goes. Flowers are usually welcome also. Just don't do like I did and have them sent to her work. All her co-workers kept asking what I'd done to have to sent flowers. She was upset.

I once had a women tell me don't be bringing any presents unless they taste like chocolate, smell like roses or sparkle like diamonds. I knew then we had nothing in common!

Maybe I'm an old fuddy duddy but I don't care for gifts.
I have a bunch of gifts that I have never opened because I have no need or want for them. I think I may regift them just to get rid of them.

If I want or need anything I'll get it myself, otherwise I already have it or don't need it. But a card would be nice.
Same with giving. I don't know what you would like and gift cards cost too much, nearly $5.00 on top of whatever amount it's for, so I'll just write you a check or give you cash and a card.
The Grinch.

The only gift worth having is Christ Jesus.
10mm, when you care enough to send the very best.

I should probably stay out of this one, since y'all know know how the last one turned out, but I think you have a great idea there Scott.

I would go more and more over the top every year thinking that my ex grew up with nothing and hadn't really ever made all that much, so I made it my job to make up for all of that. I'm thinking now that should have kept it more simple and less about how shiny and expensive it was. Not that it matters now, just thinking out loud about it I guess.

Best wishes for you and your family, Scott!

I rarely spend any real money on her. But I understand where you’re coming from. Kathy was pretty helpless and close to the end of her rope on a number of occasions.

She really needed me…..and frankly, I needed to be needed.

I’m going to spoil her a little bit.

Nicely said!
Lately I've come to realize that the Bimbo never really needed me for anything more that what I could do for her. Now that the divorce is final, she's really been awful. Just never saw it before, but I'm hearing from close friends that, more than a few, that they really weren't surprised by what she did.
I'll be a whole lot more careful next time. :D
