Thinkin of Doing my Handloading Early This Year

Post by COSteve »

My wife just got scheduled for a left knee replacement in early January (torn meniscus and arthritis) so I'm thinking of doing my batch reloading next month after the election as she's somewhat grounded so we'll be staying home this holiday season. As I said in my Handloading Stocks thread, I had 2,450 rds to replace but as the weather was nice this past week, I've added a bit to that total.

I figure that the handloading will take my mind off of her situation and help me not to worry about her as much while I'm still close to help her with whatever she needs. We've been to 2 classes on what to expect, one at the clinic and one at the hospital so we've got all the info and are just waiting for the date.

BTW, I asked why the long wait of almost 3 months and the nurse we've known for years confided that with the flood of 'undocumented' coming into the Denver metro area (they are a Sanctuary City) has caused the medical demands in the entire area to skyrocket so 'elective' procedures like knee and hip replacements have a long waiting list now.

She complained that the taxpayers who foot the bills are at the bottom of the waiting lists and the undocumented are placed at the front. So much for equality under the law.

Steve Have you checked into the stem cell shots? i know their's one that does it in Ft.Collins
we talked to him but went to Casper Wyo. to do it, 5 years ago she had both knees done & an ankel
that had a dead talus bone that caused her a lot of pain since 1990, she gets around real good & no pain

The issue the Dr. has is the arthritis has attacked the joint pretty severely so he says that the surest way is replacement.

Having a class to explain the replacement surgery is brilliant. When my mother had hers done she was not given anything that really explained the process.
My right knee is very crunchy, left not as bad...
The first week or so is the hardest.

I'm looking forward to cooler weather for many reasons, casting being near the top (that and I'm tired of sweating through my clothing every day)! :D

January isn't the only time I handload but it's the time I make sure that I've got all my stocks back up to the levels I want them for the start of the good weather. I use to handload every month to 6 weeks but the last few years my shooting has slowed down so my need to restock is less often.
