Back In Business...
I've been away but now I am back in business guys, got a "new" Marlin...
We were always Winchester guys, me and the old man, but secretly I liked the looks of the Marlin as well...so I got this one because I wanted it and I didn't have a .30-30 anymore and I couldnt think how that happened. It locks up tight and runs like a Rolls Royce. I got it cheap because it looked like it had been dragged behind a Land Rover for ten miles and the finish was all flaked off - and it had no sights! So I refinished the stock myself and put some sights on it, and shot her in at 100 metres with some 150 grain Hornady round noses I had lying around left over from my last Winchester 94, which I had given to my father as a retirement present. And yeah, the rear sight is off a Winchester. Don't tell John Marlin what I did.
I also bought a boat and outboard the same week, so what does this all mean? It means I am going elk hunting that's what that means. (Actually it means I am going elk scouting and exploring the country, as the wapiti have all dropped their antlers and its spring here.)

Very good. A good.30-30 is a very useful tool.
Mine has some honest wear on it and I’m responsible for every scar and dent.

Nice work on bringing it back! Honest wear is a badge of honor but when they've been abused it's great to bring them back.

Great to see you back here Carlsen! Nice save on the old Marlin. I prefer them to Winchesters. Lots easier to clean -- and mount an optic if absolutely necessary.

Very Nice. Hope to see some hunting results Soon.!
Re: Back In Business...
Sure good see you back, always enjoyed your hunting rifle prep, hunting results & pics, and canoe hunts, something I enjoy as much as any other way myself,!
Winchester or Marlin, doesn't matter both great hunting rifles and I've used both with equal enthusiasm! I to dislike the Marlin rear sight. I filed mine down flat eventually, so much it eliminated some of the U and filed my front sight down on top enough for a flat spot. Now it's actually my best all around hunting sights setup, with a Marbles Tang Sight on rear, it's a real asset in the field that I've used I think 3 times on game all successfully! But stay with us!

Dang Carlsen -- glad to see you're still alive and kickin'. And that rifle looks way too nice -- I'd be afraid to get scratches on it!
My Marlin 30/30 is my favorite rifle. Actually I have three of these "favorite rifles" of which two are Win 92's but one is my 1950 era Marlin 336A. You done real good.

It just doesn't feel right to not have a .30-30, or a shotgun, in the house. Enjoy!
