Re: What is everyones opinion on the Magnum Research BFR
There are some differences between the BFR and FA83 in 454. Despite being a 'short' cylinder, the BFR's cylinder in 454 is still longer than that of a FA83. The rifling twist is also faster in the BFR and the revolver weighs approx 0.5lb more, making the BFR somewhat more suitable for heavyweight ha...

We moved from Australia to UK in the early 90's and I had heard it was all too difficult and had resigned myself to 2-3 years without firearms. Re: OT - Any 35 Whelen OR Remington pump rifle experience?
Rem pumps in 35 Whelan are quite popular here, particularly as we arent allowed to use semis anymore. They are favoured by hound hunters who may have to make successive shots are moving game. A lot of hunters use factory Rem 250gr CL and these work very well on our large deer (Sambar). Pump gun accu...

FWIW if Barnes dont come through Woodleigh make their Hydrostatic solids in 375 to suit a 375 Win. Weight is 235gr. These bullets are not expanding bullets, however due to the tip shape perform somewhere in between soft point and solid bullets.

That sounds very reasonably priced for the UK, maybe too reasonably priced. I'd be looking the rifle over very carefully before laying out any money. FWIW Hodgdon's site lists 30k pressure loads for 45 LC, but not using 2400. For high performance loads I'd be inclined to use slower burning powders anyway (eg W296, H110, H4227 or Lil'Gun).

CBE in Australia make a couple of moulds for the 38 S&W. I believe the original bullets were two diameter - with the driving band measuring 0.363 and the diameter from rear of the driving band to the base at 0.357, ie the design is somewhat like a .22 rimfire and 310 Cadet bullet. CBE moulds are...

While the 444 and 356 cartidges are loaded to the same OAL, a 444 case is approx 0.20" longer than a 356. Bear in mind that the 375 JDJ was designed for a single shot pistol where there is much more flexibility with COAL.

Browning chambers are bad enough and the newest Winchester chambers are even worse. Best thing to do is have a good smith add .50" of free bore to these guns just as Winchester originally did back in the day. It won't hurt accuracy and will enable you to use most any bullet you want with no ex...

Before loading too many of them I'd try a couple to see if they chamber properly. In mine I have to size to 0.310 max and any larger results in sticky chambering. Every rifle is different so best to check what works in yours before loading a few hundred of them.
