It has got to be the older lever action rounds...
32-20, 44-40, 38-40, 25-20
I do not know how many times I have read about their death in the various gun rags...
Granted you need to be a reloader to take full advantage of these rounds, but once you get hooked on them - you'll be a fan for life...

I look upon caution at the 243. The way I see it, the round is not really really good at anything.... too much for my type of varmints and too little for big game... I will say to its supporters, I have seen it kill a few black bear and an untold # of deer...

I thought it was a slow game until after halftime, at least Florida can be considered an East Coast team. Although I feel Utah should get a chance to be national champs also for going undefeated.

For me - it has to be the Winchester 1892 rifle, Full length barrel, full mag tube, cres.buttstock - a close second would be my 1894 full rifle, they both just balance and point perfect for me. I would agree w/ Hobie on the Winchester 88 feeling closer to a bolt gun. While I truely enjoy my Marlin g...

I would also like to add a 25-20 or a Marlin 218 Bee to the mix and hopefully a few pre-64 Winchester 22's - a bolt action sporter model is first, either a 69A or 75 (wishing for a 52), maybe a single shot, and a pump later 1890.

I think it depends on your definition of light. A medium heavy hunting load would be a heavy dose of Re#7 under a H...
