currently my only centrefire is my 44 mag rossi with vortex scout scope so it does everything I need being I dont shoot more than 150 yards. My other gun is a 22mag Ruger 96/22. prior to this I owned a 357 carbine for everything. Prior to that i was into big game rifles( almost another life ago) but...

okay you have a big bear coming in fast, lets say a grizzly minimum. I wont go into details whether you were hunting or suprized or how this actually occurred. :D But lets say you have a 44 mag or 45 colt lever gun at hand for whatever reason and you will get just 1 shot away. I know its probably not in the category of rounds easy or sensible to fit in a lever action, but I bet someone out there has done or can do it. Or maybe it cant be with that rebated rim? case rim is the same as 44 mag if that helps. I know bighorn does the 500SW and 500 linebaugh but quite a bit big...

I owned a 45 colt rossi circuit judge revolving rifle ages ago, which could also chamber and fire 410. I didnt use it much but what I recall is the 45 colts werent real accurate with that long cylinder. The best I ever did was 4-5" at 50 yards with any ammo. There was also a straight rifling cho...

I dont know what real workd velocities are like but if you check the ballistic coefficient of the FTX bullets in 357 and 44 it aint that great. By that I mean for example the 158 XTP hollowpoint actually has much better BC than the 140FTX(.201 vs .169) and in 44 mag the 240XTP hollowpoint is much be...

I know this was somewhat of a mythical round in the day but found this repro so to speak interesting. Random musings, I always wished Paco would have articled some hotrod loads for 44mag in a Rossi92 like he did in the 357, 45 colt and 454 casull. Not that I need more power but would just be interesting to see how the cartridge did with similar upper pressure limit applications.

I am a fan of 24" barrels on a lot of guns but I found in 357 the 24" rossi was end heavy for me . Original 92's had more taper, rossis seem almost paralell sided. In 44 mag which has the same dia barrel there is more meat taken out thanks to the bigger hole and these balance okay. For 357...
