Well, you got me to chuckle with that one... Not meaning to make the stench of your envy any worse, but my '73 belonged to a gentlemen from Amarillo, TX a little more than ten years ago.

Kind regards...

Re: My 1873 Factory Engraved Deluxe Short Rifle in 44-40

That's a great old '73 Heath! A very nice gun to own, with really great features! Don't see a lot of engraved '73's, and even less in a short rifle! Marlinman93, Nice to hear from you... Thanks for your comments on the '73. Also looking at an engraved Marlin 94 in 38-40. Send a PM, I'd like to disc...

Re: My 1873 Factory Engraved Deluxe Short Rifle in 44-40

That's a real beauty! :D I have an original '73 in the same caliber that I shoot with black powder loads every once in a while. Not as fancy as yours but in about the same condition. It's a lot of fun to shoot these old guns the same way as they were shot way back when. What part of Wa. are you in?...

Re: My 1873 Factory Engraved Deluxe Short Rifle in 44-40

That is a fantastic rifle to own and shoot, you must be very proud of it. THANKS! ... and yes, I'm certainly proud to own it. It's alot of fun to shoot too! A few folks seemed surprised that I was shooting the rifle, but I figured it couldn't hurt to run a few mild loads through it once in awhile. ...

My 1873 Factory Engraved Deluxe Short Rifle in 44-40

It has been a dream of mine to own a factory engraved Winchester rifle since I was a boy. I never thought it would come true, then one day a friend of mine told me about this 1873. He said he was considering selling it and wanted to know if I was interested! Of course I was, but I could not affford ...

Re: Question about 1895 Marlin in 45-70 (1972- ? model)

Paul, Thanks for your post... I'm sorry to hear that your guns were stolen. I had some guns stolen a number of years ago, so I know how you feel. I have an old 4X BEAR CUB scope with post type reticle that I may try on the rifle. I really like the configuration of the rifle too. Putting the scope on...

Re: Question about 1895 Marlin in 45-70 (1972- ? model)

Gentlemen, Thanks to everyone for the responses on all of the questions. I'm a little puzzled about the rifling though.... I'm certainly not an expert on micro-groove rifling and that's why I came to the experts here on the forum, but I've seen it before in late model Marlin rifles and the rifling i...

Question about 1895 Marlin in 45-70 (1972- ? model)

First of all, I'm pretty excited about my latest levergun purchase! I picked it up at a local pawn shop for 300 bucks! It's in great shape and has a perfect bore, so I can't wait to shoot it... From what I have been able to find so far, I think it is an early 1972-? model 1895. It has a 22" rou...

I know he attended the show in Puyallup on a regular basis with his son. Not certain if he had a table, but wouldn't be surprised.

Sorry for your loss - and that of Ron's family. Not to be indelicate, but I'm curious. Isn't this a bit long between one's death and the funeral? 1942 - which means he was 65-66 when he passed. That is WAY too young!!! Ysabel Kid, Yes, I wondered the same thing when I got the news. It was s...

Friend and levergunner Ron Baker passed away on Christmas

Local gun collector and friend, Ron Baker passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours on Christmas day. I had come to know Ron from long visits at the local gun shop. He was an intense listener and story teller who was born in 1942. Ron had a great collection of old west firearms including m...
