Yes the barrel has been shortened. It's cut flat without a crown. I'm still learning on the picture posting I have trouble with photobucket.

I traded some 223 ammo for this yesterday. Really dont know much about springfields but its gonna be fun researching it. Its a 1873 Springfield 45-70. A Couple of 39 Mounties

The first one was born in 69 and the second one i picked up yesterday. It has a L prefix so from what i have read its a 54. Been looking for some time for one of these. The ones i have found at auctions never list them as being the same size. Some are framed so i dont know if they are counting the frame or not. Walks with gun im in Alabama. I check that pawn shop pretty often. Last year i picked up a nice Frontier scout in there and they will deal with you pretty good.

It sounds like it would be worth it to let a local dealer ship it for me. Im in Alabama and our laws are pretty gun friendly but i know its not like that everywhere. thanks for the replies

If i sold a gun would i have to take it to a dealer to ship it for me or how does that work. I have bought guns before and i know they have to be shipped to a dealer but can i just ship it myself to the buyers dealer. thanks

Cant seem to find any of the gift ammo tins this year. Usually there out by now but i cant even find any online or in the stores. My 13yr old loves stuff like that and i was gonna get him one for christmas. Let me know if yall see any anywhere.

They look bigger than what would be in a normal magazine i wonder if they were folded and just stuck in there anyway i was going to try and find one and frame it sorta like he did but i dont know how to find one and if they are rare or not.

Has anyone here ever changed the interior of there gun safe.I have two older ones and to get to the guns in the back i have to just about take all them out.My shelves are sagging anyway so i was thinking about changing them out.It looks like they used wafer board covered with carpet.
